6246 My favorite is Dennis Lehane's Kenzie and Gennaro books. I also like the James Lee Burke books about Dave Robicheaux. He had a couple of dogs but his latest is absolutely great. I prefer the Irish crime noir better. Guys like Mckintry, Bruen and Neville. I also like The Scandinavians preferably Nesbo.

6246 I enjoy him and I am sad that Ian Rankin is nolonger writing avout him. I never read very much of Ian Rankin and as such never really learned to appreciate him.

This is his first book and it is dark. It is a little melodramatic at the end, but the overall read is very good. I also like the McKinty trilogy about Michael Forsythe. The Brandt series was my favorite of Bruen. I also like Lehanes series of Patrick Kenzie.

Try Ken Bruen, Stuart Neville or Adrian McKinty. The best modern noir seems to be comming from Irish writers. My favorite being Bruen.
