I think I have. I am on the road now and need to need to look. I think I have read Goodis and Thompson.
My favorite is Dennis Lehane's Kenzie and Gennaro books. I also like the James Lee Burke books about Dave Robicheaux. He had a couple of dogs but his latest is absolutely great. I prefer the Irish crime noir better. Guys like Mckintry, Bruen and Neville. I also like The Scandinavians preferably Nesbo.
I enjoy him and I am sad that Ian Rankin is nolonger writing avout him. I never read very much of Ian Rankin and as such never really learned to appreciate him.
Jon wrote: "The whole book is one great paragraph after another. His latter books weren't as great--I think his lifestyle caught up to him. May he rest in peace."I just got Red Chaser on my kindle. I will read it and let you know.
My favorites are:Ken Bruen: Detective Brandt
James Lee Burke: Dave Robicheaux, the early work.
Robert Crais: Elvis Cole
Dennis LeHane: Patrick Kenzie and Gennaro
Michael Connelly: Harry Bosch
Reed Farrel Coleman: Moe Praguer
Rennie Airth: John Madden
Martin Cruz Smith: Arkady Renko
Luis Alfredo Garcia-Roca: Inspector Espinosa
Let me know if you like some of them.
I belong to the group and I do read legal thrillers. I have not read many lately, but I will give you the name of some of the authors I have read. DW Buffa, Sheldon Siegel, John Hart, Lescroft, Turrow, Baldacci, a couple of Grishan, not my favorite, J Patrick Law, and a couple of other that I can not remember now. Good luck.

The first three are out of print be..."I thought London Blvd was his best stand alone, I liked once were cops. The first Brand book was a trilogy and I had to get it from the library.

I have read 7 books of him in l..."
This is his first book and it is dark. It is a little melodramatic at the end, but the overall read is very good. I also like the McKinty trilogy about Michael Forsythe. The Brandt series was my favorite of Bruen. I also like Lehanes series of Patrick Kenzie.
Mohammed wrote: "I was wondering which criminal character hardboiled books you liked reading ? The so called Roman Noir, the ones Thompson and co did so well. Not only classic, real old ones. How about Richard..."Try Ken Bruen, Stuart Neville or Adrian McKinty. The best modern noir seems to be comming from Irish writers. My favorite being Bruen.
