If you liked it get The Hunter, the first book. Parker first 4,5 books are the best.Parker is ice cool,cold-blooded but his street smartness are good too. Since he is not only brawn.
Dont worry there will be time to read the books, authors you see ,sound like to your taste. My list keep getting bigger to but i always make time for authors that sounds like i might like it.
Parker books by Richard Stark(pen-name for Donald E Westlake) is the best example of Noir with proffisional criminals.
Like how Jim Thompson is for the the sick criminals, other losers.
Heh nice to get new author names so you can check them out.Allthough Vachss and Burke isnt new to me. They sound exactly like what i usually read.
Have you read Richard Stark ?
I like Elmore Leonard. Nothing wrong with quirky when the characters are still hardboiled, tough, low lives, criminals. My favorite are Thompson,Stark's Parker type. The bleak stories that arent about heroic character. Thats why Parker books are my favorit crime series. Too good. You can make 50 books of Parker.
Cain ? Who is Cain ?
Goodis sounds like Thompson thats why i ordered Shoot The Piano Player :)
I was wondering which criminal character hardboiled books you liked reading ? The so called Roman Noir, the ones Thompson and co did so well. Not only classic, real old ones. How about Richard Stark books.
My favorite classic Noir PI series is Ross Macdonald's Lew Archer books even if i have read The Moving Target only so far i like Lew more than Marlowe,Sherlock and co.I would rate my favorite PI's like this :
Lew Archer
Philip Marlowe
Sherlock Holmes
Kenzie
Harry Bosch was a PI temporary. Otherwise he is my favorite cop hero.
I always prefer the ones that arent Marv like superbad, i liked to see that when they get caught they get their ass kicked.
