One of the great farces of our time, by Peter Nichols. John Cleese was one of the stars of the movie.

59085 What's privates parade?"

Privates on Parade is a play set in WWII. The lead character is a gay man, when homosexuality was illegal, a player in a troop that did shows for the boys. They didn't send women those places. Him doing good Marlena... He was great. The theater preservation people got a whole lot of donations after the performances. My trip there is where Mad Sunday, in Knight Progenitor, came from.

I still proudly wear my Colin Baker Appreciation Society shirt on special occasions and my St. Tiggywinkles shirt is in the memory box. I've been writing for ten years and not keeping up with the world, actually eleven. My son said, "Mom, there's the e-reader and publishing platform you said expect in a decade." "Just a minute." "Mom, they're on the third generation." "Oh!"

59085 A vial of oil from the split hold of the Exxon Valdez, some amethycists and gold out of the driveway. A book about the Iditarod for his little girls... THEN, they were replacing the tattered US flag for race fortnight on the Isle and I suddenly realized what I was seeing, a 49-star flag. Perfect topper.

59085 I went to the Isle of Mann to take him birthday presents and meet him. I really did need to see him in Privates on Parade. He was great. It's not difficult to meet stars at cons, either. Ginny and I found 50 lbs of dock-cooked dungees worked great as an introduction. They didn't mind getting leftovers, at all. :)

I'm a long way from really knowledgeable. I know more about that period and Colin because I know him.

He'd say, "That contradicts what was said before." he said they told him it didn't make any difference and story continuity wasn't his job.

59085 A bit more trivia. Trial of a Timelord was the brainchild of the same writer that did Talons of Weng Chang. He was in a hunting accident (I think) after the season began and before the script was finished. They brought in Pip and Jane to finish and they wrote sort of light stuff. Basically, Trial of a Timelord fell apart in the middle and he had about two stories that weren't enh.

Colin was the first actor to play the Doctor who was a true fan. He worked to get it back on, whether he was on it or not. My take on it has always been they were a bit irritated by that and they really didn't want anyone who knew the show that well. There was also a lot of erotic fan fiction between the Doctor and Peri. They were so afraid of the fan fiction writers that when Virgin books was given the contract for books, their guidelines were the Doctor was a sexless clone. That's why replaced very masculine Colin Baker with Sylvester McCoy.

Blake's 7, very popular BBC SF series. They killed all the heroes off, and aired it on Christmas Eve.

59085 If they pulled a Geidi Prime in Dr. Who, they'd be running from mobs. Oh, Blake's 7.

When it began, it was. It was intended to interest boys in history and science. It was a Saturday serial. Michael Grade took over the BBC with the stated intent of killing the show, moved it to Tuesday nights, made it a different length and the great writer dying in the middle of Trial of a Timelord added to the loss of audience, so he killed it, but we knew he'd be gone soon and the Doctor would be back, when we celebrated its 30th anniversary.

59085 I just made one of the most highly awarded Dr. Who fan fiction collections, ever, available on Smashwords, free, of course. Data as a companion? Why not?

59085 As a 40-miles-from-cable deprived person, I had to wait for cellular technology to make netflix reasonable, so I recently saw Torchwood and Tenth and Eleventh Doctors for the first time.
