Finding Love


Find love
Even if you think you've found it
Or lost it
Crushed it
Buried it
Had it squeezed from your spirit
Like an orange depleted of its center
Know that it always exists
A substance more common than sand
More necessary than air
And the only thing that is born, grows, and becomes immortal

Names in the Sand

When you jump that ocean
Conquering 10,000 miles to unite our hearts
We shall find a place where the page meets the edge of the Pacific
And invites us to leave the shortest of notes

The page is not limited by space
For there is room to write a thousand books
If we were to follow the coast
From head to toe

Our only restriction is time
The waves acting as the ticks of Earth's clock
Spilling ashore every minute
Erasing the letters we've drawn at our feet

So we must move without hesitation
In the grain of a moment we've been given
Finding our place
Etching our mark

And after we are done
Take my hand and do not watch
As the waves reach forward
To do time's work
