Hmmmm, a YA spin off. You never know. He definintely has book potential and is set up smack dab in the middle of the Shifter world I've created and is featured in HUNTER OF SHADOWS. Now I can't STOP thinking about it.

I'm waiting to hear from my agent re contract talks with Pocket. Way too much coffee and the forbidden chocolate.

I write about whatever gets my creative juices going. I mull over ideas in my mind and let them ferment. Sometimes they develop into books, sometimes not. I only wish I had the time to follow up on even half of them. Sometimes I start with a character, sometimes its an event. Once that creative seed is planted, I water and wait to see what grows.

Oscar is one of those plot points that continues to develop throughout the series. So plan on seeing more of him.

In the series, yes. Which one of the books are you asking about in particular or do you mean the series? Oscar's relationship to Max creates a lot of unexpected ties to characters you haven't met yet and also creates ungoing tension between Max and Alain Babineau. Oscar's importants become a LOT more apparent in HUNTER OF SHADOWS, which will begin to tie up several loose ends . . . and create some more.

I LOVE paranormal romances! Even before I wrote my Midnight vampire romance series, I was palying around with a werewolf book that never went anywhere. When a former editor asked if I'd consider writing a short paranormal, I remembered that long shelved proposal, got it out, dusted it off and submitted it. She loved the prologue but everything else had to go...the plot, the characters, everything! So I guess you could say desperation inspired me. I had to come up with a completely new concept so I just started from the end of the prologue with a police investigation at the scene and the book wrote itself from that point. In fact it developed so fast and so LARGE, it was no longer suitable for that offering to buy editor. That's when I bumped into Micki Nuding, whom I knew from my days at Avon. She was now a senior editor at Pocket. Did she like dark paranormal? Oh, yeah. By then I had the first three books of the series completed and was working on the fourth. Now we've just finished up with book 6 of the By Moonlight series.

Hi Natasha! Great to meet you. My mom was a Floridian so we're practically related!

The two books that are coming out, HUNTER OF SHADOWS 11-29-11 and SEEKER OF SHADOWS 6-26-12 feature new heroes and heroine but Max and Cee Cee are definitely in them as strong secondary characters and their past story and plot arcs are continued. Even though they aren't front and center, their story is still developing and the world created in their books is expanded. And I get to write mor scenes with them together! BONUS! I'd love to do future books with them as leads but that's up to my publisher...and reader demand.

There's always that downside. And the health insurance. Sometimes I think I'm in my day job just for the health insurance.

Hi Kathy! I remember you from Literal Addicts. At the risk of sounding mentally impaired, my characters tend to talk to me. When I'm writing scenes, I view them as of watching a film and sometimes I quite surprised by what they come up with. The dialogue that comes directly from the character's 'mouths' always sounds more spontaneous than words I have to drag out of them. I love those days when they feel talkative. It makes my job so much easier.

Gasp! We'll have to do something about that, won't we? ;-) I hear you. If I tried to catch up to my TBR wish list, I would have to give up my writing or my 9-to-5 just to find the time...I wonder if I could live without my 9-to-5.

Morning Holly! Thanks for jumping in. Looking forward to your questions.

What took you by surprise? What do you think will happen next? Feel free to speculate. You can ask ...

Ask me about my day... Feel free to post questions related to writing in general or about my writing process.

This thread is for the discussion of the books in my By Moonlight series. NO SPOILERS please!
