The Stand (19 new)

5048 Hayley, I think you will find that the stand is a fairly quick read for a book of it's size. Plan to read it when you have a few days free to read, read, read. I did not want to stop once I got into it. King's mind is amazing. The whole thing, cover to cover, is engrossing. Let us know how you enjoyed it (or did not enjoy it). I have purchased the uncut version but have been putting off reading it. This thread may have motivated me to take that step. Thanks

5048 I think I have read all of Rice's books until she started on her new Christian books. I keep thinking I should read them as I enjoyed her other books so much. I am not interested if she is just trying to promote her new found religion. Does anybody know if the new books have much of a story line? Has anyone read any of them? I'd really like to hear some feedback on her "religious" titles. I did read some of her S&M set and thought they were much better written than that sort of thing usually is (not that I am an expert ;-} ).

5048 Jeff, that is a very interesting way to look at Poe's work. Can you give me a reference to a book where these topics are explained. I'd like to know more about it.

5048 I loved this book. I have always had interest in the Great Plague and the viewpoint of someone from the near future experiencing the plague was very interesting. I actually enjoyed both the past and "present" sections. I enjoyed the aspect of what happens today effecting the past/ or vice versa. I do not want to spoil the plot but suffice it to say, I thought it was a very good read.
