Some series can be read out of order, but I'd suggest that the Scudder books should be read as they were published. The flashback books work the way they should, but watching Matt's gradual rebuilding is what makes the series work best in my book. "In my book ..." I meant to do that.
Hello, Mr. Block. I began my adventures with you with Scudder, then found Bernie and Evan Tanner and even a Chip or two. Wonderful stories, wonderful heart, especially Scudder's journey through grief and loss. And then I read Random Walk. All these years later, I still read it at least once a year. I guess I relate to Scudder because I've been in a situation a bit like his, and I have considered the idea of just 'chucking it' and setting off on foot ... but that can't really happen.
In Random Walk it does, but not the way people think. It's definitely a departure, but it's such an interesting concept. Where did it come from? How did it happen? And what do you think about it now?
Thanks
