I've worked at a library my whole life, and one day in late 1995, a patron said I should try you out. He handed me a copy of "Some days you get the bear." I loved it, and "By the Dawn's Early light" blew me away. I then read the Scudder books in order. "A Stab in the Dark" is my personal favorite. I did have a patron spoil something, about Matt and Elaine getting married--she read the books out of order, and mentioned it before I'd gotten that far!! My daughter was born when I started the Scudder books, and I have great memories of holding her as I read them. (Her and I took a picture with you at Murder by the book in Houston, in 1996, before she was a year old) She is 15 now.
