A few months back, I was reading Jack Webb's The Badge and was fascinated by his descriptions of cutting-edge technology -- breathalyzers that require a whole van to hold the equipment, punch-card computers capable of sorting criminal records and the like. The degree to which police technology has advanced since then is astonishing, and I have to wonder how its affected your writing over the years? Do you find it harder for Keller or Rhodenbarr to get away with their crimes these days than the characters in your early novels?
