I'm not doing as good as I would have hoped, in still at 61 books and I'm nowhere near where I should be. I should apologize, I haven't been updating as I should, life has been so hectic this year. I can barely find time to read let alone manage a group. I have decided that I am going to create a 2019 reading challenge group and I'm going to prepare better than I was this year. I am going to write posts in advance so they can go up on time and I'll do more readathons between school and homework. Again, I'm so sorry. Thanks guys,
-Amelia

408250 You can, or you can post on the board for that month (right now would be the February wrap up and March info) just to post on more recent topics. I do get notified when someone posts but I don't know if others do, so it would be best to post somewhere where people look more frequently.

408250 Hello Trina!!

Welcome to the group. I look forward to reading with you this year and learning more about you! feel free to read through any discussion boards and answer any polls about the March readathon!

408250 Good job! I just started prisoner of Azkaban but I have to take a little break. I also read a bit of Vicious as well

408250 Hey guys!

As February comes to a quick end, and March is fastly approaching, our reading challenge continues.

A couple of announcements:
- March is national Read Across America Month... which means that the whole U.S. will be celebrating the birth of beloved author Dr. Seuss. Because of this, I will open up a Dr. Seuss themed reading bonus challenge (that will count toward the big challenge).

-I hereby declare March as National Trilogy Month. In March, read as many trilogies as you can. Every month, I will declare a theme or a challenge.

-Chech out the polls page to vote for the book of the month for March ( and I'll try and keep up with it because there were a few hiccups this month)

-Check the polls page to vote for the March readathon day as well!

How do you guys think you did this month? What are you going to do differently? Is there anything that I can do to make this group better?

Anyways, as always, goodbye! And I wish you happy readings!

408250 It's interesting that you taught that in 8th grade. I remember that we went a little deeper than that in 5th grade. We read several different versions of Cinderella and I think it was Sleeping Beauty. 8th grade, we focused more on different types of literature and we read several novels for our units.

But anyways, I finished Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone around 4 a.m. I fell asleep while reading The Chamber of Secrets, so I'm only about halfway done with it but there's still 15 hours and I'm fully confident that I can get to at least the Goblet of Fire... or maybe even further than that.

408250 Welcome to the February 2018 readathon!
The readathon lasts from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on February 25.

The goal of the readathon is to read as much as you possibly can in the 24 hours you are given, whether it is 100 pages or 1,000. There is no pressure to read the whole time or to meet a certain page requirement, as long as you read. It can be anything, from a full novel to the label on your shampoo bottle.

I will try to update my progress on Goodreads hourly during the readathon, as well as responding to any questions or comments you guys have.

With just 20 minutes before my readathon begins, I'm gearing up and settling down for a day of Harry Potter inspired reading fun. What are you guys going to be reading? What's your goal for the readathon?

Thank you for participating!!

Anyways, as always, goodbye! And I wish you happy readings!

408250 Hey guys!

I'm so sorry that I haven't been posting much lately (I promise I'll get better). I have just been so busy with school and finishing up the semester- finals, stuff like that. I'm so pumped for the readathon tomorrow and I will definitely be posting throughout the day to keep up the readathon spirit!

For the readathon, I've decided to try something a little different for myself. Instead of just "mood reading" my way through the 24 hours, I am going to see how far in the Harry Potter books I can get in one day. It has been at least three years since I last read them and a reread is well overdue. What are you guys planning on reading?
I have been reading Vicious by V. E. Schwab currently (and THe Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern) but I love this book so much. Victoria is definitely one of my favorite authors of all time so I might be a little biased but it has a plot line that sucks you in and by the time you look up again, you're done with the book. I want to finish it before I start the readathon.

Again, in case you forgot, the readathon will be hosted on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 25 from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. (midnight to midnight) in YOUR TIME ZONE.
Anyways, as always, goodbye! And I wish you happy readings!

408250 Hey guys!
It's February and guess what that means... Our reading challenge is well underway and we're already 1/12 through the year!

Per request, the February book of the month will be Strays by Jennifer
Caloyeras. As the month goes on, I will open up discussion boards for the book and polls and maybe even a challenge or two! The February readathon will be hosted on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 25 so join us for an amazingly fun time!

How far are you guys on your challenge? Are you happy and/or proud of what you've done so far? Do you have any recommendations or comments for me?

Anyways, as always, goodbye! And I wish you happy readings!

408250 Hey guys!

First off, I am so sorry that I haven't posted in a while. I feel so bad but I've been really busy with school and just life in general. I'm going to try and post at least every week from now on.

Okay, now that that's out of the way, I have a couple of updates on my progress. So far, I've read 27 books in 2018 and I couldn't be more proud of myself. I've learned that audiobooks are literal lifesavers because you can listen to them when and where you want without having to carry around a physical copy (which I wouldn't give up for the world but sometimes it's just so inconvenient). I'm currently reading 1984 by George Orwell (for school) and This Star Won't Go Out by Esther Earl (It's such a good book, I'm literally in tears from some of the stuff in it). How far are you guys? ANy other updates you would like to share?

I've created two polls, one to vote on the next readathon date (I want you guys to have a say in it too) and the other to vote on the February book of the month/ all group read along (I don't know what to call it..).

Anyways, as always, thank you for joining me on this tremendous journey and I wish you all happy reading!!

408250 First off, I would like to apologize for not posting in a while. Second, I have a few things to talk about. First, I would like to know what you've been reading so far in January (11 days in). Then, I have a few questions about this group.

1. What would you like seeing in this group? More discussions, readathons, etc.

2. How do you guys feel about monthly reads that we all read and discuss together (starting February.)

3. What can I do to improve this group overall?

Thank you and happy readings!

408250 (Sorry this is a bit late, I've been trying to catch up on some much-needed sleep.)

For those of you who participated in the readathon at all, I would like to thank you for joining me on the start of an epic adventure in 2018.

How did you guys do in the readathon? Did you meet the goal you set? Or more importantly, are you happy with what you got done? What can I do next time to improve the overall readathon?
....................................................
Anyways, I did not meet my goal. I had a few things come up and this, unfortunately, stopped me from meeting my goal. Although I did not meet it, I:
-Finished The Hate U Give
- Listened to the complete audiobook of Mr. Penumbra's 24-hour Bookstore
-Read Ajax Penumbra 1969 (not on my TBR and, because it is only 65 pages, cannot go toward my goal)
-Read about 50 pages of Fangirl
- Read Never Always Sometimes
-Started The Sun Is Also a Star

Which puts me at around 1100 pages in the 24 hours I had
..........................................................
I will be hosting monthly readathons (as per voted). More information coming soon.

408250 Great Job Helen! you got a lot done today. Even though I have a few hours to go, I've read about 1000 pages total

408250 It's going great, I finished The Hate U Give around 2 a.m. , I read 50 pages of fangirl (around 3 a.m.), 106 pages of Never Always Sometimes, and i'm now listening to the audiobook of Mr. Penumbra's 24-hour Bookstore. How is your grading going?
Dec 31, 2017 10:50PM

408250 Guys, I'm so excited, 2018 is less than 20 minutes away (for me at least)!! And with it, a reading challenge that I get to enjoy with all of you. Go ahead and comment you goal for the readathon (in time, pages, books, etc.) as well as your TBR.

My TBR:
- Finish The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
- Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
- Mr. Penumbra's 24-hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan
-Never Always Sometimes by Adi Alsaid
-Love fortunes and Other Disasters by Kimberly Karalius
-When We Collided by Emery Lord
-The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon
-The Problem With Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Which is a total of 2,853 pages, which is a lot but I'm setting my goals high.

I'd really like to know what you guys are reading and I'll check back in in an hour or so.

I will try to update my progress on Goodreads hourly during the readathon, as well as responding to any questions or comments you guys have.

(I am planning on hosting more readathons throughout the year and each will have its own folder, there is going to be a poll on the 'polls' wall to vote when the readathons will be hosted.)

It's so nice to have you here and I hope you meet your goal!
Dec 28, 2017 09:45PM

408250 Of course.
Dec 28, 2017 09:37PM

408250 You can read whatever you want (as long as it reaches the at least 100 page mark). I'm never against rereads and this challenge is to get you to find something new that you enjoy, as well as enjoying the pleasure of reading your favorite books.
