Agreed! It is exciting.
38566 Hi guys! I was just messaging Richard about this. I have no desire to be in charge of anything, I'm just excited to participate in further discussion. Anywhere that we can find a place to gather together people who would like to talk more about early (or pre-) science fiction is great for me!

I'm no expert on any of this, in fact the thread on Victorians! was actually the first that I'd heard of anything remotely sci-fi prior to 19th century. Therefore, I'd like to throw in my two cents when I can and otherwise just listen (and read) and learn.

As I said to Richard just now (sorry for the duplicate discussions in different areas -- the exact problem we're trying to avoid, eh?), I would be happy to refer any early members for the proto sci-fi group to a more suitable place.

That said, I have another interest in some of the pre-19th century works that have recently been brought to my attention:
L'an 2440: Reve s'il en fut jamais
Voyage dans la lune:
Trips to the Moon
La terre australe connue: 1676

I know this thread states "19th century". Should we stick with Victorian lit here and perhaps locate discussions for earlier works somewhere else? As is hopefully clear, I'm open to anything that works.
