I actually contacted Amazon customer service yesterday and the girl tried to be helpful, but even after having me on hold for 15 minutes, at least, she couldn't explain what the problem was. I ask about the possibility of someone in the US gifting it to someone in the UK, and was put on hold another 10 minutes. She came back and said that yes, gifting would work, but then added that 'if recipient has trouble accessing the title, we can work something else out,' but she couldn't guarantee that said recipient would actually get the book.
I know people in other countries who have their amazon account registered using a friend's or family's US address so that they can avoid this headache. It might be frowned on, but it's likely not illegal. Does anyone have more information on this?
Target didn't have it either. I'm heading to B&N today to buy the paperback for my family to read. They don't touch my Kindle! LOL!
