Hello again, Ms. Clare!Thank you for answering my questions. I suppose I should have read CA a little closer....I didn't realize that there were only 2 women fighting at deQuincey's. I suppose it is because I tore through the book so fast and because of all the reading and writing I'm doing for school right now. :)
Be well, and I look forward to your new books!
Hello Ms. Clare!I love your books! I have two questions that are burning.
*****SPOILER FOR COB, COA, and CA************
(1) Perhaps I am just thinking of vampire lore, but I have a question: How did Jace not become a vampire after Simon bit him? Is it that one has to *consume* vampire blood in order to be changed rather than just being bitten? I hope that this is not a stupid question.
(2) I suppose this question is two-fold. In COB, Jace explains to Clary that Maryse was in one of the first generations of women who could become Shadowhunters en masse. FIRST- Did you write it this way as a nod to the greater feminist movement of the late 1960s and early 1970s? If so, BRAVO! That was a nice touch connecting political happenings in the mundane world to political happenings in the world of the Nephilim! SECOND- I found this to be slightly inconsistent with CA- where there seemed to be PLENTY of women Shadowhunters. I know that it was written that it was technically Henry that was seen as the proper one to be running the London Institute, not Charlotte. Is the answer simply that we saw just the elite women in that time who could become Shadowhunters? Am I thinking too hard about this? (I am in graduate school for women's studies and social work... My thesis for my women's studies degree is centering on portrayals of female characters in young adult literature, so this stuff is on my mind all the time!)
Thank you for taking the time to answer all of our questions! Your work here and your books are greatly appreciated!
:) Kara
