Hi Bighead, thanks for your message of support. Glad you are reading my books. I assume you like them :)

My next book will be published next month, Dec 16, and while the series will continue into 2019, I am unsure when the next book will be. As I publish each book, I seem to get less reviews on Amazon which leads me to believe that less and less people are continuing the series.

369948 Thanks Josiah. Just saw your review on Hidden Valley, glad you enjoyed it. I have thought of a number of exciting stories for the Mystery Series, but I don't know how many will see the light of day. Regardless, I will be publishing stuff in 2019, but it's 50/50 on if that will be the Mystery Series.

369948 So, after taking a break after releasing The Mystery of the Amphibious Jeep, I am now back on working on Escaped Prisoner. This might be the last book in the series since I am disappointed with the lack of reviews (only 1 in the first week) and sales of Amphibious Jeep and there's no point writing this series if there is only a handful of people interested.

369948 Hi everyone. Decided to release paperback of the stories I hadn't released, but then decided to update and read through all my stories. So, that and some issues with the plot of Escaped Prisoner, means that Escaped Prisoner has now been pushed back to Dec 16, but instead I have a short story releasing on Oct 2, titled Mystery of the Amphibious Jeep.

Enid Blyton seriously wrote some of the best mystery middle grade books out there (Famous Five/Adventure/Five Find Outers/Secret Seven) plus, since they were written in the 1950's they are completely different to middle grade books written these days.

369948 I am making slow progress on Escaped Prisoner, but it is still on schedule to be released on Oct 2.

369948 Finished Crown Jewels, and have now put up the pre-order for The Mystery of the Escaped Prisoner.

I've just been been putting the finishing touches to my latest novel, which is due for release on July 8, so only a few days away. It is The Mystery of the Crown Jewels. I've also just put up the pre-order for the novel after that, which will be released early Oct.

As for how many there will be in the series, that is undetermined. I have story ideas for at least ten more, but if sales slow down, I will end series sooner rather than later.

369948 The good thing about Whistling Caves is that there are 14 books in the series, so, just like how I have 9 full length books and 12 short stories, if you like the first one, there is enough to keep you occupied for some time.

However, if you want to try a really long series, one which I discovered same time as Enid Blyton, you could try the Biggles books by Captain W. E. Johns. There are 98 books in total. They are set in 1916 to 1965 or so and are more adult in nature than Blyton or Dixon but still are family friendly with not much violence or language so I read them when I was your age. Some are more boring than others, the one I like the most is Biggles Defies the Swastika.

369948 Josiah, I just saw your review of Smugglers Cove, so thanks. It's always good when someone leaves an actual review rather than a star rating. Glad to see you liked it. As for the negatives, I'll be the first to admit that it does some personality and descriptiveness, mainly because I'm not good in that aspect of writing. That is something that Blyton did good at but, unlike me, she was published by a proper company, where as I am an independent publisher, which is why I offer the first book for free so people can decide if they like the series or not. Chances are, if you like the first novel, you'll like the rest.

I get that some readers will dislike my book because of those negatives you pointed out, but I do try to focus on the plot and make it fast paced which is what being less descriptive has allowed me to do. Anyways, even if I wanted to write exactly like Blyton, I wouldn't because if you want a Blyton book, you read a Blyton book. But, for the price of my books, I think I offer value for whoever wants to read an exciting adventure. The only issue I have is getting the word out because, unlike Blyton, my books don't appear in bookshelves or libraries and so on.

Anyways, if you are looking for a very descriptive mystery series, you may want to take a look at The Mystery of the Whistling Caves, that is a modern series set in Britain that focuses more on the mystery aspect than action, but I still liked it.

Hi Josiah, glad that you have joined us. I've never heard of the Flying Stories, searched google, they do look interesting, not sure how I would get a copy of them, prob ebay I suppose. I haven't read Dana girls, but read loads of Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew and most series of Enid Blyton. Have you read the Adventurous Four by Enid Blyton? That might interest you.

As for my stories, Smugglers Cove is free all the time, but I'm also making my collection of books 4-6 free on July 7 for 5 days on Amazon, so feel free to download it if you want to see what the stories are like.

369948 Hi Ann, I mainly get books from the local library and read novels that way, or in some cases buy them off ebay if they are hard to find, but free is, of course, better.

Glad you think my characters are likable, I would say that my stories are plot driven and not character driven, and some think story is too fast paced, but that's what I like reading, so I'm glad there are other people who think like me.

369948 My mystery series would be middle grade, the other novels I have written would be young adult, but for this question I will focus on my mystery series.

I've never actually thought about putting a real person into my novel, maybe that's because I don't meet many people :)

I will admit though that I might read a novel or watch a film and I wonder if I could take parts of that and turn it into an adventure for the mystery kids. Now, that might seem I'm copying stuff, but it's not like I copy everything. And besides, most of the stuff I read or watch has already been copied from other stories.

As for the characters, apart from the mystery kids, there are not many characters, and most of them are the bad guys. Also, I will admit that my books are plot driven and not character driven. That's not saying I don't put any effort into my characters, but I put my emphasis into making the story exciting and thus not get bogged down in character development. There will be readers who don't like this sort of writing, but you can't please everything. What I do try to do is to make all the books the same, which means that if you like the first one, you will like the next one.

369948 I have adjusted the release date of Crown Jewels, it will now be released on July 8, so am now putting the finishing touches to this novel which will, I think, be one of the most exciting.
Jun 27, 2018 12:17AM

369948 Ann, I see our group has increased in numbers, so thanks.
Jun 19, 2018 07:01PM

369948 Ah yes, I did hear about the Dana Girls, but haven't read any due to a tight budget, but would like to read them at some stage. I am also reading the latest Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew's that are released in the current series, it is interesting to see how much things have changed since the early versions.
Jun 19, 2018 06:57PM

369948 Hi Ann, thanks for joining and for your lovely comments. As long as enough people like you keep on reading my stories, I will continue reading them. Though, of course, I can't match the output of Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys since they're not ghostwritten, but I'll do my best :)
369948 Hi Everyone,

I have set up a multi choice poll/survey about the mystery series, 6 questions long, should only take a minute or so. If you have the time, please click on the link below, every response will go towards making the mystery series better.

Thanks in advance.
