Oh no! Fingers crossed it doesn't come to that...losing your books would be a heartbreaker :-/ Do you have a smartphone or ipad? I have the Kindle app downloaded on both of those platforms and often read on there to connect to my recent purchases--I too have an older Kindle that's been having issues and has books on there I can no longer access anywhere else so until I finish reading those books I'm just treating my Kindle like a print book: what's there is what's there and that's that.
