I am nearly done with a novel set in Idaho. I should be done within the next hour.
I can also read another one today. So don't worry about finishing the other two Idaho books. Just finish the one you're working on. I covered the other farm books too since I was finishing a novel series set on a farm.

35559 Okay, I finished my two 3 food books. If there are any other tasks I can help cover I am willing. Now, I'm just finishing some of my cleaning my tbr read list challenge.

I just realized we're down an orange cover book. I was planning on doing a reread of one of my favorite books which has an orange cover, so I'll move it to my list for tomorrow.

I hate to say it but so far every BOM has been an absolute dud for me and it's making me not want to read any more of them. I still will for the points, but yeah I LOATHED Opal.

35559 I was going through my book challenge shelf and found a book I never put on the spreadsheet from the end of May. I added it in.
35559 16. I love Bev’s line ‘ How in hell is anybody supposed to help if you won’t ask?’ Are there any characters who don't need to hear this? Did it resonate with you?
Why would anyone do anything that made sense in this novel? Opal is dedicated to making the stupidest possible decisions at every turn. In real life it's an important lesson and I refuse to be anything like Opal, so I asked a friend for help today.

17. Opal and Jasper finally reveal their secrets and talk. Were you surprised that they are both Graverly’s? How do you feel about the outcome regarding schools?
Not in the slightest bit surprised. This author's foreshadowing techniques could use a lot of work. I frankly want and need Jasper to get as far away from Opal's dumb ass as possible. FAR, FAR away. Run, Jasper. Don't look back. This portion required too much suspension of belief for me in how Jasper got into college without any input from a guardian, but again, I despise Opal, so I hope for Jasper's sake he can get away from her.
18. Elizabeth Baine seems to have an amazing connections and pull. Who do you think she works for? How do you think she figured out what the right leverage was?
She works for Hawkins National Laboratory in Indiana. Because this book is a terrible parody of Stranger Things.

19. So much happened in these chapters, yet I really don’t feel like I learned much. How do you feel about the pacing/storyline?
I am ready for this book to be over, that's about all I can say.

20. We learn that being a warden is a choice, although the house asks very vulnerable people. Do you think that the other wardens understood the price? How does Opal fit – she chose, but she isn’t a warden at this point.
If you are being haunted by something and damaged psychologically you actually do NOT have a choice. Wardens are being manipulated into becoming Wardens. That isn't freedom, that is slavery and bondage.

Bonus cat question: Which name do you prefer – Baast or Hellcat?
Baast because then I can just sasy this is Baastardization of Stranger Things source material.
35559 11. Starling House reminded me up to a point with some vibes of Beauty and the Beast, although lesser now as the story progresses. Is the book reminding you of any other stories you have read before?
Not a book but a miniseries I watched on ABC written by Stephen King called Rose Red.

12. Ch 14-19 have answered a lot of questions about Opal, the house, Arthur, the history of the place and what's going on. Has anything revealed in this section been surprising to you? Does the explanation so far of everything that has happened ring true?
Not too surprised, no. I am beginning to wonder if being a Warden is similar to how Grimms work int he NBC tv show where if your family has a history of being a Grimm it will get passed to you, but multiple families can be a Grimm and not be related.

13. Jasper and Opal are clearly close, although he is sometimes moody and surly. He seems resentful at times of Opal going out so far on a limb to take care of him and get him out of Eden. What do you think of the character now that he has more fleshed-out scenes and more has been revealed about him and their relationship?
Opal has the emotional maturity of a kumquat. I get why Jasper is annoyed. Opal has no business being the guardian of another person. She's barely intelligent enough to care of herself.

14. Arthur and Opal have heated a few things up. Do you think they fit each other well with these developments?
Yes, what this novel needed was a boring and chemistry free romance /sarcasm. Totally pointless and I hate Opal, so I wish better for Arthur.

15. There is humor in the book that is overshadowed by genuinely creepy horror like tales, What do you think about Underland "beasts" revealed so far?
At this point I'm believing their demigorgons like from the Upisde Down in Stranger Things as I feel this book is a poor ripoff of that.
