@Kerri I definitely like it better than the sencond book, so far. It's very fast in the beginning, picking up right where the second left off.

I am currently reading Hunted by Meagan Spooner in addition to A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab.
I really like fairytale retellings, so Hunted isn't my first walk in the park. It is written in a compelling way but it is not as fun as A Conjuring of Light.
@ Kerri I would love to finish off the series but I've forgotten what happened in the second book, haha. Once I finish up what I've got going on, I want to read the last book. I have an issue with actually completing series, I swear.
@ Samantha I've read the first 2 and they were rather good. Just know that they writing is incredibly prosey and, while this doesn't bother me (b/c it's not common among ya authors, so I like it when it happens), it is something to keep in mind.

I finished A Gathering of Shadows and am now starting A Conjuring of Light. Wish me luck.
@ Kerri If you still want to read it together, feel free to join in with me. =)
I am going to be slower with this one than the last, I think. Well, that's the projected idea. I could be totally wrong, haha

@ Kerri It would really depend on how I felt about the second book. I dislike Lila but here's to hoping she's more likable in the second book. I try to not let her ruin the book for me because everything else is so wonderful.
So I think that might be possible! Sometimes I get impatient with myself and then read the whole book in a couple days...so if that doesn't bother you, I'm all for it! =p

I think I'm planning on finishing the Darker Shades of Magic series for this challenge. Also, I'll pick up Strange the Dreamer once it gets around to it for the BOM for some extra points. ^^

I'm impatiently waiting. I really want to read something but then it almost feels like a waste of an opportunity. The struggle.

Oops, I'm sorry. I totally forgot to add a question before. I was rushing because I had to leave.
I personally love to read outside in the sun or outside next to a fire. Generally outside is where I prefer. Next would be a comfy chair, specifically armchairs so I can prop my head on the side while I read.
What series were you most disappointed in?

I prefer to not read non-fiction because it is harder to keep my interest, but a book about something relating to my interests in animals wouldn't be a bother to me. I've been meaning to get around to reading Charles Darwin's book, but it's a toughy and rather large.

I've been putting off reading for a little bit since my exams are coming up. I don't want to start anything too distracting just yet, haha

@Danielle I am starting with Warbreaker. I haven't read him before but I hear nothing but good things. I want to put off the Mistborn Series until I get used to his style so that I am blown away when I do read it.
@Samantha I might be able to read it with you. It's just a matter of the will power, haha. That's high praise! I hope to love Sanderson as much as everyone else seems to.

@ Kerri I really love my bio classes, it's just the chemistry classes that are a drag. I have to take organic next semester and I'm definitely not ready.
@Emily It's not my favorite place in the world, but I've lived here for about 13 years now. Happy to read with you as well!
@Samantha I really want to read the last book in the series but I don't think I can suffer through the first and second again. I loved A Court of Roses and Thorns but the second book was disappointing to me. I have reviews but they are rather spoilery. I understand why lots of people love both, though. ^^
@everyone I also look forward to reading with all of you. What's everyone's favorite genres? I personally love fantasy. I am trying to move away from young adult recently. The covers always appeal to me, but the content is not high quality enough. For the challenge I'm going to start with Brandon Sanderson.
My ShelfI'm Ivy. I live in West Virginia in the US and I can use some interaction with people. =p
I am a Bio major and an English minor, so Kerri, your job so super interesting to me, haha

Anytime, Emily!
(view spoiler)[She seems to be a very confused girl. Her emotions are running too high for all of this. xD But seriously, she moved through emotions so quickly. She could just be really high strung.
Also, maybe the kissing thing had more to do with the fairy tale feeling it gave.
I wish that there were more side characters. The ones we see never last very long. (hide spoiler)]I finished early this morning. I stayed up all night to finish it. I had the same issue juggling between 3 or 4 stars, but I went with 4. It could change by the time I actually write up my review.
I started to really enjoy everything the book was giving me and
(view spoiler)[how Ignifax and Shade were two parts of the same person. Made the love triangle vibe justified in my mind.
I thought that the curse was interesting and linear with everything that we knew. The only part that started to be confusing was the abstract idea of the box and when he opened it. I was reading the last few chapters like, "What...?" the whole time. And the deal they made somehow released them because they were being selfless? Maybe I was just too tired to get it. Somebody explain if they can.
I was really disappointed with how quickly Nyx decided to betray Ignifax. I understand that she was raised to kill him and that he was this supposed evil demon, but still she said that she loved him. She argued a little, but then decided that her sister was right and that she should kill him. She should have just left and returned to Ignifax since they were trying to figure out a way to fix everything on their own.(view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

Up to Chapter 12 at this point. I am finally starting to enjoy the story as it picks up. I mean, I do love the interactions between Nyx and Ignifax.
(view spoiler)[I have to agree with you, Emily. Nyx doesn't know how to stick to one thing. She's all over the place. I kinda get the trying to seduce him thing at the beginning, since she was pretty sure that he was going to try to do things with her. She was believing it and told that everyday before she came to him. They probably thought, "What sort of monster wouldn't?" She seems to try to use seduction as a decoy.
Her lust towards him is rather... I don't know how to word it. It just seems...Off? Like, she's afraid of him but attracted to him? Maybe she has some built up tension? Somehow, I like and dislike it at the same time.
As for her joking with him, I believe she is trying to show that she isn't afraid of him. It's more like she's goading him, maybe.
I am trying to justify her for some reason. Haha!
One thing I do like is her trying to reason her feelings for Shade. Obviously, I don't believe her to love him or him to love her. But the bonding that can be provoked from a shared situation is important to note. I believe that it is normal for her to feel confused over him for he is the only person to ever offer up sealing their fate to dying along with her. I think Nyx just wants someone to understand her. But kissing happened and now he can talk? What's up with that?
Another thing I am hoping for is Ignifax to get more time to be developed. It's been, what? Five weeks? I am ready for more! The thing with the Children of Typhone seemed so out of character for him, but maybe that's just because I don't know much about him. (hide spoiler)]

I've read up to chapter 5. Just getting to the tip of the iceberg. All that info dump and these names. I don't have very broad previous knowledge of Greek/Roman gods and goddesses, but it hasn't hindered me as of yet. I wonder why Roman and Greek heritage was chosen to be written upon. Also, I hope I can keep the magic straight. It's all so much to take in.
(view spoiler)[I like Nyx so far. She's not very happy with her position in all of this and harbors a lot of hatred. I think it makes sense that she feels like this. I hope that the Gentle Lord gets a real name at some point. I can't stand it referring to him as such. (hide spoiler)]

I am as well. I hope to start reading soon and give some contribute to discussion.
