35559 15 I thought it was sweet of her family to give her what they could. I loved Diana and Darcy secretly talking and planning. The card from Queenie's Mom made me cry. I think her Mom did the best she could.

16. Her realization with Janet was so good!! She can't change who she is, she can just be the best she is!!!

17. Her going back to work! Yay! And Jean's emails! Who knew she had a heart??
Oh, that date! But, she finally realizes that no one else is in her shoes. Their opinions and feelings don't matter.

18. Ted, nope, those excuses are weak, you are weak, can't even call you a man

19. Ohhhh, the ending with her Grandad. He is the best man in her life!
And she deleted Tom's number. She is so much stronger than me. I am still hung up on a guy who left me for another and I can't get to the delete him out of my life yet!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is one I never would have picked up on my own! I think a strong 4 stars.
So.....now what for the rest of September???
35559 10. I am starting to understand more about Black Lives Matter and I am happy to find out it's not meant to say no one else's lives matter

11 That Ted!! Married! His wife must not do what Queenie does

12 Man, someone called it back there thar Guy would be Cassandra's man! Bur, holy cow, Cassandra going off on Queenie??? Why isn't it ever the man's fault??? Telling her she'll send her tab!! Just wow!!

13 Tom, what a typical man!! He was probably with his white girl while he was with Queenie. Maybe he had a fetish for black women?

14 I waa happily shocked that Grandpa wanted her to go to therapy!!! I hope she sticks with it. I love that someone said if you have a broken arm, you get it fixed, so, when your brain is broken.....but, sadly I bet a lot of people who need therapy won't go because they are embarrassed
35559 6. She is so sad and insecure, she's reaching out to anyone. I'm not too sure about Ted, yet

7. I have never thought about touching another person's hair, no matter what race. I guess people think it's ok, like touching a pregnant woman's belly

8. I don't think Tom really loves her. He's just so thoughtless with his comments

9. Sadly, yes, abuse tends to repeat over and over. That has to impact a kid, could not have been easy growing up around violence
35559 Thanks Cat!!!!
35559 Cat wrote I hope she gets an HEA/HFN ?? what is that?
35559 Thanks guys!!! I feel like I can keep up, but thanks for letting me know there's no pressure!!!
35559 I didn't know we had to read this book so quickly, what if I can't keep up and how the heck do you guys post the question in your answers without typing them all?
35559 1. I feel I can relate to Queenie looking for love. Sometimes it's a trap I get stuck in
2. I was surprised at the comments on the dating site, sad to think that it is common thoughts about African American women
3. I can understand her need for "love" and sex, but, yeah, going with Adi is not the boost to her morale that she needed
4. I have not experienced having friends who don't know each other in a group chat. Meeting in person is totally different
5. I am thinking Tweed Glasses is going to be the one to help save her
35559 Thank you, Mustafa!!! I'm excited to try this
35559 Ok, this is my first book in a book club, do I start reading now, or wait until September 1?
