Don't Feed The Chipmunks

This is an optional mini challenge running until the end of the challenge.

If we have told you once, we've told you a million times! One of the key rules of NBRC is not to feed the chipmunks... You never know what they will create out of the ideas that you throw their way.

On your official SS is a new sheet which has 10 tasks showing for you to work on. You can work on these 10 tasks in any order you want. As you complete each one, a new task will appear at the bottom of your list to replace the finished task. A new task will only appear once you have finished any one of your 10 tasks. There will only ever be 10 tasks for you to work on.

You may use any of your free choice books for these tasks, but not those from the page number specific towers. The book must have been started after TT started and finished after June 1st, 9am UTC. Once a book has been allocated to a task, you can't swap it out later. You can use a book that you were planning to use in a page number tower and change it to free choice.

I've added your participation for Malibu, Travelling Cat and Cold Cases, but the link for Book Lovers didn't work

fair warning: if this is your attempt to claim participation verification there is a close to zero chance fo it being caught when you add other links: I catch new posts and am super unlikely to remember this is here and come back to check on completed links. You'll want to post your (min) three links fresh when you finish the DQs, and not rely on this post.

Guidance for DQ setters
Aim for a reasonable number of questions: 4 - 5 is typical. Please don't post too many - any more than 7 gets unwieldy!
Use consecutive numbering of the DQs for your days. So, for example, if Day One is posted as questions 1-4, Day Two should start at number 5 etc.
Don't worry too much about your questions: you aren't being tested on how clever your questions are!
Hints and tips:
- Is there a quote that jumped out at you? Use that in a question.
- What about the characters - do they generate strong feelings? No feelings? - either way, we can explore that!
- What about that plot twist?!
- Explore the writing style: is there an unusual structure being used? what's the tone of voice like? or the point of view?

35559 11/22/63 book cover

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. Unless...

In 2011, Jake Epping, an English teacher from Lisbon Falls, Maine, sets out on an insane — and insanely possible — mission to prevent the Kennedy assassination.

Leaving behind a world of computers and mobile phones, he goes back to a time of big American cars and diners, of Lindy Hopping, the sound of Elvis, and the taste of root beer.

In this haunting world, Jake falls in love with Sadie, a beautiful high school librarian. And, as the ominous date of 11/22/63 approaches, he encounters a troubled loner named Lee Harvey Oswald...

35559 City of Brass book cover

Nahri has never believed in magic. Certainly, she has power; on the streets of 18th century Cairo, she’s a con woman of unsurpassed talent. But she knows better than anyone that the trade she uses to get by—palm readings, zars, healings—are all tricks, sleights of hand, learned skills; a means to the delightful end of swindling Ottoman nobles.

But when Nahri accidentally summons an equally sly, darkly mysterious djinn warrior to her side during one of her cons, she’s forced to accept that the magical world she thought only existed in childhood stories is real. For the warrior tells her a new tale: across hot, windswept sands teeming with creatures of fire, and rivers where the mythical marid sleep; past ruins of once-magnificent human metropolises, and mountains where the circling hawks are not what they seem, lies Daevabad, the legendary city of brass, a city to which Nahri is irrevocably bound.

In that city, behind gilded brass walls laced with enchantments, behind the six gates of the six djinn tribes, old resentments are simmering. And when Nahri decides to enter this world, she learns that true power is fierce and brutal. That magic cannot shield her from the dangerous web of court politics. That even the cleverest of schemes can have deadly consequences.

After all, there is a reason they say be careful what you wish for...
