35559 I'm eagerly waiting for To Selena, With Love by Chris Pérez to come in the mail either today or tomorrow. Love the movie "Selena" and after having watched it recently, my interest in this book intensified so I went ahead and bought it. I've read good things about it and can't wait.

I finished "Gone Girl" last night...ripped through about 150 pages in two hours, lol. I enjoyed all the twists and turns and the ending, while unsatisfying, I didn't dislike. I actually thought it was pretty ballsy for it to end the way it did.

35559 My goal last year was 50 and I am keeping that goal because I barely made it last year. I literally read my 50th book the 30th and 31st of Decmeber. So I am keeping the amount the same with the hope that I can exceed it.

Book #1: A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving "A Prayer for Owen Meany" by: John Irving (01/01 -?)

35559 "Little Earthquakes" by: Jennifer Weiner - I was gasping I was crying so hard at the end. It's not even sad really, the circumstance is...I don't want to spoil it.

"The Help" by: Katheryn Stockett - The was a tense ride and I loved it.

"The Road" by: Cormac McCarthy - After I read this, I read some chick lit and some of the "sookie stackhouse" series just so I wouldn't be depressed. It was a while before I read anything even remotely heavy.

"The Color Purple" by: Alice Walker - This was a very emotional story and it has stayed with me ever since I finished it. One of the few books that I feel was adapted into a movie quite well.

"A Child Called It" by: Dave Peltzer - I saw someone up thread mentioned this and I had forgetten about it till I saw it. I had tears on and off through out the book. I had resisted reading it while in high school cause I had read a few paragraphs and I couldn't see myself getting through it. I had to sort of syke myself up for it. I've read it once and I'll probably never read it again...for obvious reasons.

35559 I'm reading Saturday by Ian McEwan . Someke parts I can follow real well and some others I go through a couple of pages thinking it's talking about one thing and then realize it's about something else entirely. Some parts are quite interesting and some I have to struggle to stay awake through. I am only half way into the book so I am reserving final judgement.

35559 I don't regret reading this but this is one of the few books that I actively disliked before I was half way through:

The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd

I hate it when cheating on your spouse is supposed to help you grow as a person...the main character was selfish and annoying. It surprised me that I didn't like it cause I floved "The Secret Life of Bees"
