6. The author goes for the switching POVs and timelines method. How do you like these in general? And do you think it is a good fit for this book?
It's hit or miss. 90% of what i read is by audiobook, and a lot of the time, they don't read the chapter titles out loud and only have one narrator for both roles (like this one), makes it super hard to tell who is talking and when. The authors need to do a better job of writing the characters inner thoughts differently enough to tell them apart.

7. We get to meet some more characters along the way in the "THEN" section: Dylan's uncle Terry, his brother, the mysterious Grace and other friends whose dynamics to Dylan and Marcus should shed some more light on their characters and motivation. But do they? Do you feel like you are getting to know them better? Or understand them? (Or care?)
Uncle Terry is a c*ck blocker XD but he knows whats up. you never really get to know any side characters though, since you only get the main's wrapped thoughts and feelings about them.

8. What do you think about Dylan's and Addie's past relationship in France? Do you like it/find it convincing? What about their sudden meeting in the present and the insta-lust after all the emotional baggage they seem to be dragging with them? Insta-lust/love is the WORST trope ever! especially here, neither of you have really dealt with the past, no one took responsibility or has remorse, or anything, it doesn't make sense. why doesn't anyone take their freaking time and deal with things in real time instead of speed running to sex/love.

9. I'm not really sure I'd call this book a "romance" though it certainly offers the trope of second-chance. Do you have any favourite romantic trope(s) or one that you especially dislike?
i try to avoid romances all together, i will read them for challenges, but i'm a bitter prude and especially in today's world, the plot of romances aren't even there, it's just 'sex sells' x100

10. Any guesses what part Rodney may play in the plot or do you think he's just some kind of "filler" character?
idk who Rodney even is, ahaha, only kinda kidding, like i mentioned above, hard to know when you're even dealing with someone else if the thoughts all read the same, and the side characters don't bring much to the story anyways, or they're there just for lazy plot moving, imo.

I can't yet, that's why i haven't added the date to the SS, i'm using it in another group's challenge where i need the percents for "proof" i read it, and if i switch it to the correct audiobook edition, i lose those, it reverts them all to 0% since the audio has no page number. the other group should hopefully be updated this afternoon and i can switch it then.

*edit to add, omg nvm, i forgot i kindle read this, i'm so used to doing all the audios, hang on, its there now. but the above is still a thing for most books i read, so most i have to have some time between finishing and add to the shelf. once it's closer to when the round is ending, i'll make the other challenge wait instead.

1.) Is this your first book by O'Leary? Only reading for points and that lovely 'O' letter for Wheel-a-thon or was it already on your tbr list?
Nope, i've read all but this one and The Wake-Up Call, i like that they're light and i try to get some 'international' authors into my read pile. Os aren't too hard to find if you don't care what you read.

2.) Road trips. Love them, hate them? If you've gone on a road trip before what are some must have for the journey?
HATE THEM. but i have restless leg and adhd so anything over like 30mins, i'm dying. i had to ride 12hrs to Florida wearing A CAST ON MY WHOLE LEG. worst road trip ever.

3.) Deb's comment about never having a baby obviously proved untrue. Do we think the baby daddy is going to make an appearance in the story? Or do you think it's a no name person who isn't relevant to the book?
hopefully not, she's still good on her own, plus she has her besties and mom, no need to have a man involved just because the baby is there.

4.) The flagrant unconcern about money by half the characters is a bit gross. Do you think that's at the root of Dylan and Addie's split? Or do you think it's the mysterious Grace? Marcus especially seems to not know the whole breakup story. Any guesses to why Dylan didn't seem to tell him the truth?
They just give off nepo baby vibes, or like Jersey Shore vibes, who cares about money vibes basically but i don't think it was the reason. Jealously/Grace seem to be the root in my opinion.

5.) Initial impressions of the cast of characters?
They're all bad drivers XD i'm right at 19% and two car crashes?? how?? learn to drive! but other than that, they're just there, nothing too much about them, just vibing.

this is my first challenge in this group. do i need to post anything when i finish a book, or just add the read date to the SS and that's it?

I plan on reading The Road Trip! I need it for another challenge (a book by an English author)

Are we ok to start 'claiming' letters? I'm an audiobook listener and can tackle 1-2 books a day so quick turnover (besides on weekends, that's family time and i barely get one done then)
