35559 DQs Set 2: Chapters 8 - 15

6. Were you expecting those wills? Why do you think both parents were so unfair on the kids?

Each had their own favorite

7. Yikes! killer stuffed squirrels! The first violent haunting here, was it effective?

Absolutely - killer manger squirrels oh my.

8. Despite the various creepy things that Louise has experienced, she's refusing to let her aunt exorcise the house. Would you still be hanging onto rational reasons over accepting family help?

Hard to know how I would respond or feel. Emotions sometimes take over our control.

9. We've had more insight into the childhood of Mark and Louise. Does this change your opinion of either of them?

It was an odd childhood. Blame for everyone.
35559 DQs Day 1
Ch 1 to Ch 7

1.) What are your first impressions of the family and of Louise and Mark? How pivotal do you think their relationship (or lack thereof) will play in the story.
Aside: I plan to steal and use the phrase "Terminal Assholism" in future. Thank you Hendrix!

Their relationship will be pivotal and they can both be annoying.

2.) The book is organized into sections following the 5 stages of grief. Does this impact your expectations of the book at all?

I listened to the audiobook and didn't really notice (or pay attention to) the introduction to those fazes while listening.

3.) Okay. Life size dolls named after her children. Weird, creepy? Would you be excited to have them as part of your inheritance?

No!

4.) Have you ever experienced a family post-death squabble/fight like the one Louise and Mark had in front of the junk clean out guys?

I haven't personally experienced it, but I can certainly see it happening. One of my grandmothers put names of recipients on some of her things before she died so there would be no fights or arguments😂

5.) Did anyone else google Fellowship of Christian Puppeteers? If so, were you surprised to find they were a real organization? Has anyone interacted with them before or a similar organization for other religious beliefs? [note: please keep responses respectful to people's beliefs, this is a safe space]

I did not google it - assumed it was invented by the author. But of course, now I did. It's a membership organization of Christian Puppeteers, not a charity.

I actually didn’t have Covid at all, I don’t know if I’m just lucky or something’s wrong with me lol"

I've had it once and actually thought it was a bad cold. Only tested because I was going to be spending time in a large group of people.

Feel better Silje.

35559 Hello fellow rockers – I’m a late check-in as I just added to the team.
I live in a suburb of Philadelphia, PA (USA) with my husband and his cat. My daughter got engaged last summer ago so we are planning a wedding for this December.🥰 During the day I'm a part-time CPA/tax accountant at a national accounting firm so I’m in part-time season right now. I do work some full-time hours during tax season.

I prefer a real book to an e-book but about 5 years ago I started listening to audiobooks when my work commute changed, and I love them as well and that has increased my reading. I am a big library user and actually served on the Board of Directors of a local library where I grew up for 25 years and am currently on the Board of Directors of the local library where I live now, of course I am the treasurer!

I'll read almost anything if I have to for the team, but my favorites are Historical Fiction, Fiction, Mystery and Thriller. I'm not a fan of SciFi but I do like Fantasy.

Looking forward to ROCKING with you all.

My wheel shelf is wheel-viii

Anyone with a bigger brain than me feeling like figuring out the book title square thing? 😅"

I probably could but it would mean taking books away from spell-outs and I don't think we want to do that. I'll keep looking at the books we complete for the next few days to see if I can get it fit or we can just skip this one🤷‍♀️
