35559 Sorry, guys, I'm a bit behind. I was busy with some stuff, but I'll reread it immediately and I'll participate to the discussion later tonight!

Me too! I thought I was the only one.

Yes, it was funny how even though the book focused on the crime, the characters' lives continued and we got a glimpse in their lives. I don't see why Agatha Christie is accused for not developing the characters. I think she does it while she's doing everything else too. That was great!
35559 Finally done with the book!
22. I don't think I ever disliked her that much to begin with. But I was pretty happy for the small "romance stories" in the end. But poor Hastings *giggles*

23. Yes, he would have. I mean he did that most of the books... going around talking to people about his suspicions and Poirot's (even though Poirot never affirmed it to him) and expecting to be praised.

24. At first I blamed Alfred and I even suspected the Alfred with another woman idea, but she did that in another book so I wasn't sure. And then I started to suspect the women (because poison is a woman's weapon) and I did suspect Evie the most.

25. I reckoned she was the murderer, but she was only half of it.

26. I think it was most Evie's doing really. She was the brain, not him. The plan even failed because of him.

27. I loved it! It's been long time since I last read an Agatha Christie novel and I forgot how much fun it is!
35559 18. I think he was making sure that Mary couldn't hear the noise but I also feel that there might be another reason.

19. I find Miss Howard very interesting. First she is against Alfred, in an unnatural way like those two points it out, and then she suddenly suspects someone else. I don't know what to believe about her. She may be influenced by Poirot to change her suspect.

20. I don't know! I am really curious about this one.

21. I felt satisfaction too. Hasting is a great addiction to the story though, at least for me. I read a lot of Poirot novels and I kinda started hating him, but now there's a guy more annoying than Poirot!

22. I don't think it's John! He can't be. I also don't suspect Lawrence (because of Poirot's message for him). As Poirot said, there's a lot of stre-poison (I can't remember the name, sorry) in this case. A bit too much - I think all these new clues about the poison are meant to distract us. But that's what makes Christie's books so addictive!
35559 I am behind - I was busy this weekend. It's so hard not to read this discussion but I will try not to.
35559 @Sonia
5. I know! Same thing happens to me, but as I read I try to cross them off my "suspects list".
35559 So who do you guys think bought the poison?
35559 13. I think it's great for the story. But personally I am really annoyed when I know that he knows more than he shows - plus, he always gets the killer before I do.

14. I do think it's a clue (I even highlighted it in my book), but that means Alfred is guilty, right? Though the solution must be more complicated than this. See, she always toys with my mind and she makes me doubt myself - which is pretty awesome, and I enjoy it as much as it annoys me.

15. I still believe he is involved even if the things don't seem that way. Like Poirot said he is not stupid so why is he incriminating it himself? I think it's because he is involved but they can't prove it. I still think he is involved with another woman and they did it together.

16. I think Cynthia wasn't in her room - I don't remember exactly if she was present when Emily died, was she? Maybe she has an affair with one of Emily's step-sons. But I don't think she had anything to do with the murder.

17. He didn't said that Alfred didn't do it, he just said that they can't prove he did it so they can't accuse him. Right?
35559 I don't know how I feel about a younger Miss Marple. I always thought that the idea behind Miss Marple's character is that she's a nice old lady that you can talk to because what harm can she do?
35559 1. I read quite a lot of books from her - and I also have a small collection in my own library, but I never read this one. I only read Poirot and Miss Marple books, but I prefer Miss Marple. At first I liked Poirot too but in some books he was so cocky and annoying and I just couldn't read three books with Poirot without taking a long break between them.

3. I do enjoy it very much. He is really funny and I can't wait for Poirot to prove him wrong.

4. I do find it hard to remember all the characters but I just reread some parts or take notes (when I was in my Agatha Christie-faze I used to take notes and write down clues and all just to get the puzzle right). I love her puzzles and the best part is that she doesn't get predictable.

5&6. I agree with Ashley Marie on these.

7. Oh, I loved that scene. I don't really know why, but it was great. I had to reread it to understand it better because it happened really fast.

8. Well Alfred is too obvious but you never know. Maybe he has a girlfriend (Evie maybe? Or Cynthia or Annie?) and they both want her money - but I think she did this one in another book - she can repeat the thing, of course. Oh, I am so afraid to make assumptions with Christie's book because she proves me wrong most of the times and that annoys me greatly!

9. I might be wrong... but my theory is that the poison was in the coffee, not in the coco and that Annie pointed out the salt-thing because she might be involved and wants them to think that the poison was in the coco. But I am not sure, it's just a thought. But it was probably just salt.

10. I HAVE NO IDEA!!

11. Truthful, I reckon.

12. I think it was Alfred and the letter was either a will or something that incriminates Alfred of having a girlfriend or something like that.
