Just checking in. I am about to start The Daughter of Doctor Moreau.
I am finishing up a book that you Sci-fi folks(Suzanne : ) might like.
The Ferryman It is really good. Justin Cronin the author does a great job of pulling you in . My reading was a little slower this week…. Grandkids : ) Love reading all your post !

The Stephen King book is excellent and actually a quick read.

DQ Day 3
Chapters 16-21


11. The fight with Raff's old band (who looked like clowns) that ended with snakes is one of the first times we see the almost full band working together. What did you think of this scene? Did you like the action or was it confusing?

I agree with Amy, I don’t really like fight scenes. I seem to like books with them though? Loved when Moog’s flute didn’t work at first . I liked the snakes and the scene was very descriptive not confusing.

12. So the hoarder kobolds - I thought they were great! And the bird-like creatures pulling the carriage. Do you have a favorite creature you've seen so far, or one you'd like to see? Tell why.

I loved the kobolds and I loved Lastleaf’s Wyren. I love magical creatures so really seeing any would be great.

13. I think in the last half of this section we really start understanding what a big deal the Kings of Wyld really were. And we get to compare them to the Screaming Eagles. What do you think about the ethics and popularity of the new bands that kill captive monsters in arenas?
It reminds me of the gladiators in Rome. There always seems to be two sides to a story. Who are the monsters?


14. Lastleaf gave his (and the hordes') motivations for conquest. Do you think his reasons were valid, or is he just evil? Do you feel at all sorry for the monsters?

Ahh Lastleaf. There is always a reason for someone’s actions. I always say when someone comments on another’s actions “you really don’t know what they are going through”.
I do feel a bit sorry for the monsters.

15. We all picked our favorite character in day 1 questions. Has yours changed since then?

I still like Clay. The author is doing a great job with characterization, so I also have a few other favorites Moog and Lastleaf.

I am really enjoying Kings of the Wyld so far. Are you guys enjoying it?

Chapters 9 - 15

6. We meet the 3rd member of the band, the wizard Moog. What are your impressions of the wizard? Were you as surprised as Clay that he agreed to go right away?
Moog seems lonely so I think he wanted the company. However, I will keep an eye on him.
7. That was some entrance to the palace, don't you think? What were your first impressions of Matrick? Were you surprised by the turn of events in chapter 11? Excited or worried when Moog announces that he had a plan?
I am worried about Moog’s plan, if fact any of his plans.

8. After several descriptions sprinkled throughout the story thus far, we finally meet a druin. What do you think his plan is? Why does he really want the Council to stand down?
Lastleaf …oh trouble ahead. He wants to be King! I love a good villain. It sounds like his horde is quite large and powerful. I am not sure of his plan but am looking forward to what happens. Love the Wyvern.

9. Were you surprised at how Lillian arranged the funeral? What did you think of Clay's contribution? How successful would you rate Moog's plan?
Not really, she is not happy with Matrick and wants to rule. What a fun chapter, loved the surprises. Moog is not too bright! Love Clay’s inner dialogue but the waterfall was a great surprise.

10. Gabriel borrows Moog's crystal ball to check on his daughter. Were you surprised at what he saw? What did you think of the band's reaction?
I was hoping they would see Rose. I am scared for our band but love their enthusiasm and willingness to go forward. Looking forward to see what happens.

1.) What do you think of the premise of the book, like an aging rock band getting back together to go on tour but an adventuring band instead? Is the author pulling it off so far?

I am really enjoying the book so far and love the older guys. I think I am going to love Gabe and Clay and be rooting for them

2.) The rocks, may of hit me a bit in the feels. Did it affect your opinion of Gabe at all?

Gabe going after the rocks made me feel kindly for him after the explantion

3.) How do you like the world building, is it being done effectively for you without major info dumping? Is it helping to set the stage for the story?

I love the world building , I think the author is doing a fantastic job.

4.) What did you think about the parade? Did anyone else enjoy Clay's reaction to the ladies being whistled at and be disappointed when the lady blew a kiss back instead of skewering the guy (like Clay expected to happen)?

Being from the bra burning age, it makes me sad to see how far we have not progressed.

5.) Do you have a favorite character so far?

Clay but I love the other character too… looking forward to see how the story unfolds

At little bit about myself for those who don’t know me. I live in Colorado . I am retired now and I worked with computers. I love traveling. My current trip will be July 12-26 I will be going to Switzerland. I have never been ! Other trips I have taken : England, Scotland , Ireland, France ,Italy , Spain, Peru and of course many trips to Mexico. On my bucket list is Amsterdam, Australia and Japan. I am hoping to get all those done in the next 3 years. Fingers crossed.

I will read both bom and answer questions, easy pts. I am happy to be on the team ! What a fun group.
