35559 Task: Read a book recommended by someone in a different team
We have this task 8 times each. Although some teams have dropped in with links to rec’s the Mods want us to venture out into the great wide world to get our rec’s. Please feel free to visit other times to ask for a recommendation that is specific to you.

35559 Welcome Rachel, there are still a couple more to check in so you’re by no means last. I’ll need to check you’re book as it is one of those that could be interpreted either way. @Chris with hyphenated surnames it is the first name in the hyphen that counts (this is how GR sorts them alphabetically)

All our recommendations are linked up here

Each round we are given a word to spellout, the aim being to complete the word as many times as possible. Each word has a number of tags associated with it, as a team we can submit 10 books in our spellout that are tagged with any of the matching ones for an extra 50 points. Doesn’t matter which of the tags we use as long as 10 of our books is tagged appropriately. :)

@Rina, that’s right, although of course we can read as many of the rec’s as we like and slot into other tasks. 😉

35559 Welcome Celia and Shelby.

There are some great recommendations here, I’ll put a master list on the first page to make it easier to find.

I love Ilona Andrews, although I don’t think I’ve read any of the hidden legacy series. Now I’m wondering why?

Into the Light is actually on my TBR, I Added I And shelved it as Kindle In 2016. Going to need to check on that

I’ve got The Chestnut Man on my TBR I started it ages ago and didn’t get very far. Might be time to re-visit

I’ve read and enjoyed The Hunger Games. I may pick up The Book Thief I have it in book, audio and e-book form I’ve just never got round to reading it. It does have an M,Z and an L. So maybe. The Letter looks interesting, from the précis it reminds me of The Last Letter from Your Lover

35559 My recommendations:

Circe by Madeline Miller This was a RL book club read which I listened to this week. Lots of mythology and world building in this fantasy novel. If you are familiar with Greek mythology it will help with the characters.

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah This was the first book I read by this author and I was blown away. I even cried in parts which is unusual for me. A 2nd World war tale of how two sisters deal with life in occupied France, heart-wrenching.

Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris I picked this up for a challenge and was pleasantly surprised by this psychological thriller.

This is available 3 times. Can you all submit 3 books that you would recommend to the team, bearing in mind the 160pg minimum.

35559 Chris wrote: "Question: am I able to add books to tags I know would fit before we start? Or is that considered cheating?"

Ooh controversial. The general rule of thumb is it needs to be tagged by at least one person, but you cannot claim the tag if you’re the only one who has tagged it. Hope that makes sense :)

That’s fine I was going to have a play about with the list today to arrange into categories for ease.

35559 MPG is main page genre. So this is the book’s main page. If you’re Tag is showing as the last one on the main page I would screenshot it and post it here. I have had tags drop off the main page before know.

35559 Christina wrote: "so if I got this right we can read as many tasks as we want each round which means in order to get as many points as possible we should also fulfill as many tasks as possible, right?"

That’s right, as the challenge progresses we will black out the tasks that have been used.

That's great. I've added your books to the first tab on the planning sheet. The spellout tab is for Rina and Myself to complete and move as necessary. Can you add your alternate letters :)

35559 Hi Joanne I'm sure we've been on some team challenges together. I forgot about cutthroat, that was fun.
