Always shelf the version that you read even if it is illustrated. Next, I checked on ARBookfinder and you are good at >41,000 words.

35559 So much historical fiction so adding some space wars
Under Fortunate Stars by Ren Hutchings
Under Fortunate Stars by Ren Hutchings

Fleeing the final days of the generations-long war with the alien Felen, smuggler Jereth Keeven's freighter the Jonah breaks down in a strange rift in deep space, with little chance of rescue—until they encounter the research vessel Gallion, which claims to be from 152 years in the future.

The Gallion's chief engineer Uma Ozakka has always been fascinated with the past, especially the tale of the Fortunate Five, who ended the war with the Felen. When the Gallion rescues a run-down junk freighter, Ozakka is shocked to recognize the Five's legendary ship—and the Five's famed leader, Eldric Leesongronski, among the crew.

But nothing else about Leesongronski and his crewmates seems to match up with the historical record. With their ships running out of power in the rift, more than the lives of both crews may be at stake.

35559 Withdrawing my first one as no longer in the mood for horror and replacing with French Revolution vampires:
Scarlet (Scarlet, #1) by Genevieve Cogman
Scarlet by Genevieve Cogman

A thrilling reinvention of the tale of The Scarlet Pimpernel with the addition of magic and even more mayhem.

In Revolutionary France, the aristocrats are vampires – and they face the guillotine. However, the Scarlet Pimpernel, a disguised British noble, is determined to rescue them. These predators are being offered sanctuary by their aristocratic British kin, but at great cost to London’s ordinary people. Then an English maid discovers the only power that could stop them. Assuming she survives.

Scarlet is the first book in the trilogy, set during the turbulent French Revolution.

Kings of the Wyld is really good for any of you fantasy lovers!"

You can if you have not read it in the last 6 months. That is true for any rereads for TTs. It must be more than 6 months ago.

35559 It needs to be over 50%. If it grey and white but neither is over 50% then it works for neither. I use TinEye when I am unsure if a color is over the 50% line, such as this one When the Angels Left the Old Country by Sacha Lamb , which is only 48% yellow. However, I do not use TinEye to label colors. It is really bad at labeling colors.

35559 BOM General Info

Writing a day's worth of discussion questions = 40 points
Participating in a current BOM (participating in discussion) = 20 points

Whoever nominates the book gets a discussion day. We are in good shape for May as one book was Judith's nomination and the other was a joint one of mine (with Sonia). In general, the more people volunteer to write DQs, the more chance we have of getting DQs which is equivalent to a free 400-page book in points. For June, nominations are open for two more days. I will post the poll when it is up. We can all vote or nominate however we like or discuss as a team if we want to focus on one book we might all like.

So far for June, I have nominated Saint Death's Daughter (Saint Death, #1) by C.S.E. Cooney and Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt .
Judith has nominated The Bandit Queens by Parini Shroff and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë .

35559 Judith covered mini details, and I added a column to the planning sheet for color to help with the rainbows. In addition, here is BOM info:

BOOK OF THE MONTH

MAY
Kings of the Wyld (The Band, #1) by Nicholas Eames starts 2 May - Discussion thread

The Daughter of Doctor Moreau by Silvia Moreno-Garcia starts 16 May - Discussion thread

Backroom BOM - MUST BE 18+ and join a seperate group. These are generally read for being explicit and terrible. It is book 3 but there has been no plot up to this point really and someone will likely provide a summary.

JUNE

35559 Alysa, I listened to almost all of it as an audio for my reread and thought it really did not work as an audio. I much prefer the book.

35559 Day 5: Chapters 35 – End

18. The Black Tongue is revealed! What did you think of this revelation? Did you suspect the double identity of Crawford/Jeremy?
Yes, I guessed pretty early. I put some of this under a spoiler before but Christie’s Three Blind Mice also presents with a snow storm and a previous abused child pretending to be the police officer. He was just too conveniently incompetent for it to be a real officer.

19. Ern has a unique role as narrator of the story. I felt like he was trying to give us all the clues to solve the mystery for ourselves. Did you get that impression or a different one? Did Ern’s narration make the book different from other crime novels; if yes, how?
I enjoyed it a lot. It was fun and did not take too much focus. I liked that it was set up to solve and still had fun even if I guessed some of it early.

20. What did you think of the book overall? Did you find it funny or witty? Do you think a humorous tone works for a crime novel?
I enjoyed it and am also planning to read the sequel when it is published. It was a really good audio book as well.

21. How well did the author stick to the rules?
I think he did well while also hiding a few things, so these was still suspense.

35559 Hi all, My name is Lexi (she/her/hers). I live in Northern Indiana (EST) for all of two more weeks, and then, I am moving to Atlanta (also EST). I am starting a new job on May 15th in global health and parasitology. I enjoy reading fantasy and sci-fi, and am trying to read authors from a wider range of countries. I have co-captained TTs before with Judith, so I am excited for this team.

Also, just a reminder that all books must be started after TTs starts, so you have about a week to finish anything you already started.

Please feel free to ask any question now and throughout.
