353 I read LOTR after the films, and I love it! I think that the films are well made, and they are an useful way to have a contact with Tolkien. LOTR is a book very long and not easy to read, many people probably read it only because they like films firstly.

353 I read LOTR for the first time when I was fourteen, in the summer between middle school and Lyceum. I saw the films and I liked them, so I decided to read the books, and definitively fell in love for Tolkien!

353 Lord of the Rings: The return of the king for PC. It's better than the console version, more difficult, I'm not finish the Sauron's Palantir without codes, yet!
I like it because you can choose a lot of different characters and increase their ability with a lot of development.
Obviously, it's film based.

353 I'm Brethil in Sindarin and Aranel in Quenya, and they means "princess". Very nice, but all the Elvish words are nice ;)

353 I saw the film yesterday, and I didn't read the book, so I can't do a comparison (attention: spoilers).

I like the film, Smaug is wonderful, I love the details, the fire beyond the scales, the hot air near his face (I do 3D graphics works, I love this type of things).
Esgaroth is another thing that I think is very well-done, instead I don't like very much Mirkwood...

But I really don't like the love story about Tauriel and Kili, absolutely unnecessary for me. And impossible, an Elf and a Dwarf fall in love after so little time together?

The very worst things in the film in my opinion is Legolas. WHAT'S HAPPENED TO HIM?? He has ridiculous blue eyes, photoshopped face, he is bigger than in Lotr (he can defeat a big orc with bare hands!). He looks older than in Lotr, and they did something to his features. I'm not a fan of Legolas (and I don't like very much Orlando Bloom) so I don't say this as a fan of him, but I don't like how the characters is treated in this film. Moreover, in Lotr he has some problem to bear the Gimli's presence, and we discover that hundred years before he throw himself in a fight against orcs to save the Dwarf loved by his beloved? I think he's a dubious and unlikely characters, in this film.

353 Hello everyone! I'm from Milan, Italy. I read only the Lord of the Rings by Tolkien, but I really love it ad I want read other books by him. I lend my Lord of the Rings copy to my cousin 4 years ago, and it return to me only this summer, so now I'm re-reading it.
I think my next Tolkien's book will be The Hobbit, but I accept suggestion!
