Shelf 4: F - "Fall" or fae
by Gini KochDate: 26/11/24
Rating: ★★★★★
First in a new series for Gini Koch with a new partner Bebe Bayliss.
Stacie is a stuntwoman in LA, having been trained by her adoptive father, Gil, the best stuntman in the business.
Raymond Wong, is the bad guy in the movie, his father a top cop in Hong Kong. He's been trained in all the martial arts, and has done his share of stuntwork in HK.
Things start going wrong on the movie, suicide, snakes, murder, car chases, and no one is sure who the intended target/s are.
Detective "Big Jake" Underwood, tries to get Stacie & Ray to back off, but it looks like the cops are going to arrest Gil, so she's all in to solve the case.
This story has a delightful group of characters, not least the pets, the kids, Gramps and I'm looking forward to the next instalment.
Shelf 3: J - "Jack-o-lantern" or jacket
by Laura ThalassaDate: 24/11/24
Rating: ★★★★
I've seen this book around Goodreads, so thought I'd give it a try.
The Four Horsemen, of mythic fame, create the apocalypse, just by being themselves. Planes fall out of the sky, the internet no longer works, electricity is hit or miss etc etc. Then they disappear.
Five years later, when people are just getting used to oil lanterns, Pestilence reappears, spreading the Fever, which doesn't have a cure, and only takes a couple of days to die from.
Sara, a firefighter, draws the short straw, in Whistler, to try to kill Pestilence when he rides through the town. He's immortal, but she doesn't die trying.
The rest is a slow burn romance (view spoiler)
Really enjoyed this one and will read the rest of the series, eventually.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Shelf 2: S - September/Shifters
by Audrey FayeDate: 22/11/24
Rating: ★★★★★
Loved this instalment, however, if you're new to this series please start at the beginning not this one which is #11.
Evan, is the main shifter in this one, a flawed wolf learning to be part of the pack again. We meet nearly everyone again, so that was fun.
Just waiting on Ani, the teenage polar bear to come and stay with the pack and also the alpha pairs' new baby will make an appearance in the next book, Bard.
This is an excellent series, looking forward to the next one.
Sorry LaurLa, I'm changing books for shifter & Jacket/Jack o Lantern.Shifter is
by Audrey Faye (SOS Bookshelf) & I'll try out
by Laura Thalassa (GR Shelf) for Jacket.I just wasn't feeling either of my earlier picks, and now I've got the internet again YAY, I can see the shelves to pick from better.
My internet problem has escalated, so happy you're the captain LaurLa. I'm hoping it'll be fixed next week but it could be longer. Going to the library to log in sucks as much as the phone.
Thanks Steph. Hubby has now conceded the router has died, so its off to the shops tomorrow morning Woo Hoo!!!
Passions was the one I read then realised I hadn't read Random. I liked Passions though I noticed a few mixed reviews.
