👍🏼😊 I found her in 2023 and gobbled up her Court & Hall series. I still have her werewolf series TBR.

33903 Love that y'all are enjoying it 😊

33903 Me too, I'm saving #7 for closer to #8. Saw this last year and have high hopes for 8 this year:

18 Jun 2024: I finished the draft of a book today that I've been working on since around December 2022. In 2023 there was cancer and other stuff, but it is finally done. I don't think I can say too much about it since the publisher hasn't announced it yet, so I'm going to leave it at that. But in short, yay!

33903 I really liked Edwards' Beginner's Guide to Necromancy - hope you do, too.
33903 Oh, sorry, I meant I haven't started her Devil's Cradle series. I keep up with her others. Dark in You is my favorite, too. Sandra liked DC as well and recommended it; I'm looking forward to it, just haven't started.

33903 I've been reading more completed series in last couple years. It's always nice(r) when I find one that I can stand reading back-to-back. Some have too many info dumps in each book for me to do that, but when I can, I enjoy it.

33903 IMWTK: Which books lived up to they hype?
No publication date requirement. If it was hyped here, there and everywhere, you read it and thought it was worth all that, share!

I'm trying to find worth-the-hype books in series that started long enough ago that 2+ books have been published by now. But, I'm always looking for a great, new series so I'd never restrict your suggestions 😊

33903 Well, this was a bust for me, sadly. I didn't like the MC, she fell flat for me. Actually, everyone did, except maybe her intern.

Sublimate/sublimation was only used a dozen or so times, but damn if it didn't feel like it was triple that. Don't know why, but it bugged me, badly.

Spoilers comin' next, y'all ---- stop here if you haven't read it, I'm not blocking anything

"That is the way of the wolf."

There's the human/wolf split yet she's so traumatized by her wolf's past actions that she surpresses her wolf for decades? I get that it'd be traumatic b/c he was her boyfriend, but she says she sublimated (🙄) b/c she feels she "... lost her temper and killed him." She didn't lose her temper, she didn't kill him, her wolf did in the heat of the moment, which sounded like he/his wolf had a hand in, as well. Then, her mom, while trying to reassure? her, says, “If he couldn’t fend you off when your temper was raised ...", which again shouldn't be a factor. The author makes clear human and wolf are separate; when a wolf they lose most of their humanity, so why would the human's temper even be a factor in those types of situations? It wouldn't. The wolf would do what a wolf would do ("lupine tendencies") without the human's temper coming into play. Then, throw in the discrepancy of "My memory was fuzzy after all these years ... " (pg117) and "After all these years, the memory of that night remained sharp ..." (pg123) 🙄

Sadly, I doubt I'll continue with this series. There's a slight twinge of curiosity about what the ex is up to, what's behind the box and locket, what will come of the relationship btw her and Duncan, but I don't know that I can push through another installment. I had high hopes, but I likely would've DNF'd this one had it not been BOM for the group.

33903 😏 bwahaha

Nice! That’d be awesome! At the very least it’d help make our TBRs a more manageable stack. I think I’d miss the comforting feeling of reading, so it’d have to be a power I could control the when and where of it.

33903 Gotcha. And I definitely suffer from that, too. I’ve found a kinda-sorta helper by highlighting a lot. While I’m reading I’ll highlight not just favorite quotes, scenes and such, but also wanna remember bits that’ll help me refresh before the next book.

33903 I’ve started too, but sadly I’m kinda meh on it. Some things buggin’ me. I’ll write more once I’ve finished.

33903 I just read the BookPedia creator’s post; he’s taking a hiatus with no promise to return and new sales halted. Guess I need to look for a backup in case my app stops working. 😣

FYI: I found this one (https://booktrack.app/) and will likely take it for a (5 book free) spin as a possible alternative.

33903 Sorry, should’ve put a link. It’s an app. They have an iOS app, which I have, but it’s not as convenient for me so I generally stick with the Mac app. Love it. It’s very customizable with filters and folders and such. —> https://www.bruji.com/bookpedia/
33903 I haven’t started Wright’s series yet, but I enjoy most of her others so I’ll likely enjoy that one, too.

33903 It’s a kindle limited loaner, too
