Hear, hear, Steph! "Elemental Mysteries" is an awesome series that's both smart and sexy. I, too, found the first book as a Kindle freebie and didn't read it right away, because, unfortunately, most Kindle freebies are on the mediocre side.

Elizabeth Hunter is not mediocre, and neither is this series. I quickly found the rest of the books in the series and completed them. Now, I'm sitting on spin off series Elemental World, because I want to take my time and enjoy them

I love this thread for you (and Dragana's posts and anyone else's as well!) and joined SOS specifically for this. Now I'm also addicted to their book challenges ;)

I watch for covers that catch my eye, and like all genres. I try to stay away from serials, because I hate the "first chapter free" and suck you in to get the rest of the book cliffhanger ending routine. I'll try a first in series book, though, if it looks good, but the book has to be complete. I've found many a new author and series this way.

All genres are fun, for me, as long as they fall in the realm of speculative fiction. Even the straight up fantasy and sci-fi books that you post, that are not necessarily romance related. (I particularly like it when you guys post those crazy '10-armed-tentacle' smut books - those are great for a laugh. I actually downloaded one dino-porn book just to see what the heck this fetish was all about. My eyes were bleeding by the end!)

Keep it up, and don't worry about us. Do what feels right to you - that's my opinion!
