I had to take time away from reading for a while and need a good challenge to get back. I'm in! BTW... I grew up in Colo and miss it so much... enjoy the colors for me too!
I did finish it Lily. Ms. Brooks did a great job of world building and now I think I understand Steampunk. The place is real but something that happened in the past has made it a world that is technically different from what we know. The characters she created are wonderful and I got very involved in their lives. It is an awesome book and I look forward to the next book. Hope you enjoy it.
Hahahahahahaha!! Yea those are cheesy. Those look more like the characters in Graphic Novels and seriously not sexy looking. I guess they hope to sell the books on recommendations and not by looks. I feel embarrassed to even look at books like that. Guess its a good thing I have a Nook in case I eveer feel the need to get a book like that.
I have just started reading The Iron Dukeby Meljean Brooks and I guess I don't totally understand what Steampunk is and I'm having a hard time getting into this book. I have heard lots of good things and want to read it. What should I know to get into this book??
Maybe this is just me but I have a concern about cheesy bookcovers. There are some series that I would like to read but when I go to the store to buy the book I pick it up, look at the cover and put it back. Some of the series I look at are
and
. When I look at the books in person I just think "Seriously?".I then stand there and try to talk myself into purchasing the book. Why is it that I just can't walk up to the counter and slap down the money and go?? Why is it that some publishing companies have to put the cheesy covers on in the first place??
I have seen other books posted here on GR that I wonder how anyone ever bought the book to begin with. Is this just a personal problem I need to get over??
