25350 I have found myself, recently, reading just two books at a time. A current novel and a Victorian one. I usually like to read a non-fiction or two as well..yet time constraints do not allow it..yet!

How wonderful Anthony!! I loved that documentary. SO terrific to hear James Mason was not only a great actor, but a fine person. I have read quite a bit about him and he seemed to be a very unpretentious fellow..one who was unfailingly polite. Greatly appreciate your post!

I really agree, Emily. I found the whole film to be a visual treat. The acting was great and I just enjoyed the whole experience

25350 The Secret Lives of Somerset Maugham A Biography by Selina Hastings

I am reading this compelling biography of the iconic writer. This brings to mind another peeve I have when it comes to biographies of writers. This one does not seem very guilty of this practice. I don't like it when the biographers spends whole pages recapping and analyzing each novel and story published. If the writings have a connection to the writers life.. Great..I just don't enjoy reading recaps of the entire books written. It takes up alot of space and does little to advance knowledge of the life of the subject. I can always refer to analytical literary books and sites if I want to know everything about the novels.

My pleasure James!! By all means check out The Shooting Party. Another of Mason's final films that really showed that he very much had it to the very end!

I have decided not to watch Enders Game. I have quite a few gay friends and I just cannot bring myself to support anything Card does. He is just too repugnant to me. Everyone is entitled to their views yet I am also entitled to withhold my patronage due to those views I find unseemly

Love that too!! Though James Mason made about a half dozen films after that one. His final film was Dr Fischer of Geneva that came out after his death in 1984

I haven't seen that yet James. But my brother saw it several times and is constantly on me to etch it. It made quite an impression on him

Do I miss Drive Ins!!! I recall seeing Race With The Devil in a Drive In in the 1970's and it was the scariest film I ever watched. Such great atmosphere at the Drive Ins..Those speakers that you put on your windows, having to go to the snack bar and back..great great times
