A magnificent list. Every book you listed looks like a must read. I saw Jeff Greenfield on cspan reading from his book. It was filmed at Politics and Prose. Seems like a really interesting speculative what if.. Seems very well researched.

25350 The Terracotta Dog by Andrea Camilleri Voice of the Violin (Salvú Montalbano, #4) by Andrea Camilleri

New one for me!! Thanks Erich. I will definitely check them out
25350 There is a new film with Bruce Dern. Forgot the title but it really seems like a winner. He plays an old man who wrongly believes he won a sweepstakes because he received one of those countless "you may have won ..." And he decided to go the the sweepstakes headquarters to collect his money. Read a review and it really seems like a nice film. Not widely released. So hard to find I do not see it playing in any of my local theatres

I am so so happy you said that Barbara!! I have watched a few of the older episodes recently as well. I am in total confusion as to why this show is so iconic! I love British humor. The more eccentric the better. I just don't get Dr Who. I know it had been on for a thousand years. It must have something to it. This something. .. completely eludes me. Love to hear from DW fans

an excellent review Beth..I agree that the book was somewhat emotionally distant and quite slow at times

25350 Miss Marple alla riscossa by Agatha Christie Miss Marple Investigates by Agatha Christie

Miss Marple is an interesting case..I love anything Christie wrote..yet I was less excited about Miss Marple..I like Poirot and the.. (no-lead detective) character books far more..strangly..I was not fond of the Joan Hickson TV series..yet LOVED the Margaret Rutherford films of the 1960's..because they were more about the wonderful Margaret Rutherford than the actual character she was playing

Yes! I know that is her most famous book..I have not yet read that one..I wanted to read Pigs in Heaven because it dealt with an important and facinating subject..cross cultural adoption and the joys and travails that can occur..in this case the lead character is a 6 year old Native American who was adopted by a non-Native American lady and what happens when members of her Cherokee Nation contest the adoption years later..a very interesting subject..yet I just felt it was very slow moving and mechanical in how the writer approached the subject and plot.

25350 I actually DVR'd 3 episodes of Dr Who last night..I think they are from 2006..I have yet to see a single episode of that show and am curious..although I must assume the earlier episodes with other actors playing the Doctor must have been quite different.

Ken, I watched the first two seasons so far..and wow!! what an amazing show! Cranston is superb..I found it very very irrelevant and entertaining..and shockingly original..not too many shows today that can be called original. I still have a bunch of shows to watch, but I absolutely understand and agree with all the acclaim now.

I never read that book of hers but did read Pigs in Heaven by Barbara Kingsolver ..aside from loving the title, I found it so very didactic and transitory..nothing to grab hold of

I loved it..a quick read..witty and clever..also you must watch the 1945 film..Hurd Hatfield was a perfect Dorian Gray..not to mention Angela Landsbury and George Sanders!

25350 One of the best film star biographies I have read in quite a while..SPENCER TRACEY A BIOGRAPHY..so comprehensive and incredibly well researched. I loved that the book detailed Tracey's actual wife as well..not just Hepburn who is featured in all of his bios. Spencer Tracy by James Curtis Spencer Tracy. James Curtis by James Curtis
