Sandi,Thank you for adding to the discussion. I agree that Grievous isn't on anyone's radar as a future member of the royal family, but don't forget the incident in Forced Mate when he shut down a space ship when he tried to play a pornographic movie while entertaining a young lady.
:-)
Thank you for the feedback, Jacquie. Let's hope my novels add years to your life. They say a good laugh is good for longevity.I wonder... do you think doctors' offices should start prescribing funny books? I think I'll go start a Listmania!
Rose,Thank you. The court jester is exactly how I see Grievous!
Sandi,
You are far from alone. Grievous has quite a circle of secret admirers. I know you have read Insufficient Mating Material. Do you think he'll be happy with Freya?

Rosemarie,How very kind of you to say so! I feel the same way, and my bookplates are more interesting because they show bonus male chests, instead of the one on the real cover.
Thank you for commenting!

My books in order are:FORCED MATE
MATING NET (an e-book, and short)
INSUFFICIENT MATING MATERIAL
KNIGHT'S FORK (October 2008)
Characters I get the most feedback on are:
The god-Emperor Djohn-Kronos
(mostly hate mail, but I love him)
Grievous
(the only man/human)
Tarrant-Arragon
The Empress Helispeta
'Rhett
Martia-Djulia
The characters in Forced Mate are:Djinni-vera
(typical Historical-type heroine, eighteen, virgin, nervous of sex, improbable martial arts and psychic skills)
Tarrant-Arragon
(typical male chauvinist pig, morally questionable, sexually jaded, alpha male hero, bad reputation, secret heart of gold)
Grievous
(human chorus, commentator, comic, sidekick)
Commander Jason/J-J/Prince Djetthro-Jason
(typical "other man", not terribly bad, just in the way)
Someone else?
As 'Rhett would say, it's the damndest thing! The real cover is gorgeous, but I couldn't get sufficient rights in writing to create ARCs and bookplates.
Goodreads has the real cover, so all is well.

Was there a turning point where you decided if you loved it or hated it? What helped make this decision?
Although this is futuristic/fantasy, are there situations and/or characters you can identify with, if so why? in what ways?

How well did the author follow the traditions of a quest story (in the hero's motivation/in the visiting of oracles/in the loaning of companions some of whom help and others hinder, etc) ?

A married Queen takes a secret quest for a sperm donor into her own hands. At what point (if ever) did you start to sympathize with the Queen?

Does it work for Rhett in Knight's Fork, and is it consistent with his appearances in Forced Mate, and in Insufficient Mating Material?Aug 12, 2008 05:20AM
At what point in either Forced Mate or Insufficient Mating Material did you decide whether or not you liked the heroine? What did she say or do?
Heroine of FORCED MATE:
Djinni-vera (Jinny)
Heroine of INSUFFICIENT MATING MATERIAL:
Martia-Djulia (Marsha-Julia)
Heroine of MATING NET:
Helispeta
Insufficient Mating Material: If you could change something about the plot what would it be and why?

If you could change something about the plot what would it be, and why?I'd have to turn back time to 1994, when I got my arithmetic wrong in calculating dates of births and deaths, and set it in stone by publishing the family tree.
That left me with the choice of being nasty or inconsistent. I chose to be consistent.
Which was your favorite scene in the book? Or your least favorite?By rights, I shouldn't have a least favorite, should I? I'm the author.
However, on reflection, I don't think I'm particularly proud of the scene where Commander Jason is with the two couriers, and he pricks a braille-like message onto a condom.
How about you?
