50x66 The quote “In a dark time, the eye begins to see…” by Theodore Roethke generally, means that when you struggle in hard times, for instance, if you find your self in a situation where no one is there to support you, that’s when your self generates to see that you need to find a solution. I am agreeing with this quote because in Impulse by Ellen Hopkins, one of the main character Christina pass through dark times, generating to see that she’s not being who she really is; addicted to sex, drugs, and becomes desensitized by letting her boyfriend hit her whenever he desires. In contrasts, to Christina’s dark times, in The Narrative of Frederick Douglass By Frederick Douglass, the dark times he pass through by being an slave thinking that he will never be free, nor feel like a human, made him to open his eyes, and commence to see that he is a human and he can be free. Both literatures embodies Theodore Roethke’s quote, were each character feels clouded because of what they going through. They are feeling that their lives is sunless , with lack of light, however, that’s where their ideas, and actions become functional, and they began to see.

In Impulse, Christian has a perfect life while being a junior in school. However her life changed dramatically, and she wanted to commit suicide after meeting the love of her life. This is when her dark times countdown. Consequently, she had two babies, which made her not even apply to college. Furthermore she became addicted to heroin, cocaine, and crystal meth. Christina’s dark time was result of her boyfriend who was addicted to all those drugs. She clearly was going through a lot bad things because her boyfriend used to hit her. However, being desensitized made her realize the life she was having, perhaps wasn’t the life she desire. Therefore, she started to change her addictions to all those drugs, and went to live with her mother. The dark times dawn and her eyes begin to see what’s best for her.
In The Narrative of Frederick Douglass, the main character Frederick Douglass was being dehumanize, furthermore, desensitized by all the whips not only the physical ones, but the mental ones, which made him to open his eyes wider, generates to see he had a chance to modify his life. The ignorance of being in the dark as slave……

Christina had the best life, for instance, best grades at school, perfect body, and guys back wanting her.

50x66 The text "While Father Is Away", by Dave Pelzer, and the poem "NIGHT LIGHT", by Anne Winters, are both poem which show the theme parenting as revealed. For instance in the text "While Father Is away", the girl revealed her relationship between her mother and father. furthermore she explains that while her father was away, her mother would not give her food, and mame her be starved. She explains, "During one period of time when Father was away, Mother starved me for about ten consecutive days" (Pg1.Pelzer). This behavior her mother had towards her, make her like, and loved her father more than her mother. In contrast, the poem "NIGHT LIGHT", by Anne Winters shows a relationship between the mother and a child and how the baby revealed her feelings to her mother. The author explains, "I hang above you like a planet—
you’re a planet, too. One planet loves the other." Clearly both text, and poem revealed a parenting realtionship.

50x66 Generally, Frederick Douglass didn't feel like human becasue he was a slave. However, not being free didn't take Frederick's humanity away.
Frederick felt dehumanized, because his master didn't want him to learn how to read. for instance, when his master's wife Sophia started to teach him few lessons, his master would get upset and take the book away from him with angry arms. Clearly, Humanity was something that frederick needed, and something that was taken away from him when they separated him from his mother. Humanity is to feel emphaty for others, therefore Frederick never though about him self. Furthermore, he will always feel emphaty for others, taking care of his fellows slaves.

50x66 The citation that i choose from my book is "Sexy, sexy, very cute. look this way. sexy you, think beach." I think this is a really juicy citation that use a sexy tone which evoke an photo shot section, where the photographer tells the model to pose, and feel free. I like it because it made me think of me posing to the camera....it uses interesting, beautiful language or/and phrase.

50x66 Ohh I undertand.
So do you mean that these conflicts are important for you so that you learn from them and not do the same mistakes???
I am agree with you because, when you see how other people had failed, you see the bad site of it, and open your eyes and learn from that. However there's a quote that refers to those who are the biggest artist, inventors, scientist, and people in general.“I like flawed characters because somewhere in them I see more of the truth” By Nicolas Cage....
how can you related this quote to your book and your thoughts?????????

50x66 In Speak the conflicts that Melinda overcomes throughout are friendship problems, family problems, and lastly, her own personality. In addition, there is the issue of not fitting in anywhere. for example how her friends treat her and stuff. more over feeling alienated and useless after such a traumatic event Melinda becomes depressed. this is important to know because that way we can find out what;s going on with her. In the other hand i think that all this depressed things, and bad feelings that make her feel alienated is making me a little anxious. I want her to speak..JUST LIKE THE TITTLE...GIRL SPEAK...ALLLLLLLRGIHTTTTTTTTT

50x66 One major theme in my regional poem called "sounds" is nature. The author describes the surronding and the region's vegetation. He says in a quote how beautiful things that nature has impact him and the geographic features. "In front of my yard grew the strawberry, blackberry, bluewberry, flowers, and grass." This means that nature is an important factor for humans who don't take care of it.

50x66 The setting on my book called SPEAK, is mostly the high school that Melinda the character is at in her hometown Syracuse, NY. Different setting only happens in her mind, but the main setting that affects the plot is the high school. Being with people that have different minds, and level class, and mostly don't accept her , and do not like her, affects the plot, and her self control. she does keep the secret and so far hasn't tell anyone.

50x66 The main thing that Melinda the character of my book need is friends. Since she started school, she's been feeling lonely, and in need of a friend becuase of the way that Rachelle, her old frind has been acting. She totally wants to hang out with friends that she likes, and that has similar thoughs of which club to joying this last year etc.

50x66 One major theme in my book so far is intimidation. Melinda is intimidated by other people in her school. she hasn't seen someone like her so far in school. everybody is in their own world and that's what she's starting to do now. Rachelle used to be of her best friend which now is treading Melinda like trash. Melinda is intimidated of her and has decided to ask her why she's not talking to her, nor treading her nice.

50x66 The book that I'm reading is called SPEAK. i choose this book because is about a darkly teenage outcast, and the cover of the book catch my attention. The girl looks like if she is hiding her self from something. The page i am right now is page number 13. What happened so far is that the main character of the book called Melinda, she just began her last year in school and wasn't ready for it. She started with the wrong hair, clothes, and attitude. She is also concern about her friend from middle school who used to be her best friend.
