Patricia wrote: "Yes I can do that. The best site I've found for free books is ereaderiq.com. You can track books you are looking for at a discount or for free and they will notify you when the book is offered at i..."thanks, I will check out this site!
Kristen wrote: "How often are the group reads in this club?"We voted for group read for every quarter roughly next group read will start July 1st. We will nominate A list authors for it. We rotate between Indie authors and A list authors.
We also have challenges you can participate in. Anyone can add new challenges. Do you think we should vote again on how often we do group reads? The group has grown since our last vote.
Patricia wrote: "I look at several sites daily which list free kindle books. Since I have the time (I'm on disability) to do this I would gladly list several in a thread here if it is something people would like. I..."I am always looking for free books myself. Do you mind posting what you find under the thread "sharing books"? Is there a way you can compile a list of what you find and post it there? Is that too big of an ask? I think many people would love about free books.
Sherri wrote: "I have this book on my to-read list now. Seems like a great suggestion. I am currently reading a lot of paranormal romance books."Have you tried Kate Daniels series Magic Bites or the Otherworld series by Yasmine Galenorn? Witchling I really enjoyed both series. They are paranormal romance. What kinds do you like? I am always looking for new ideas.
Emma wrote: "My favourite genre for a while now has been historical fiction. I love Kristin Hannah’s the Nightingale and Anthony Doerr’s All the Light We Cannot See. I’m also a big Sarah Waters fan."This group read Anthony Doerr’s All the Light We Cannot See as one of our first group read! :)
Welcome Harish, Maddie, Sherri, and Kristen. Great to have sooo many new wonderful faces in the group. :) Great to meet you all!Next group read in August we will pick A list authors.....maybe you will want to nominate some of Jane Austen's work for us.
My other book I am choosing for this theme is
. It looks good. I will try to finish our group read and then see if I can read these books. Fingers crossed . Some months are better reading months for me than others. :)
Welcome Tammy and Michaela! I would love to own a bookstore too! I played piano for 6 years when I was younger. Still remember a little. Great to have you with us!
Alana wrote: "I read "The Music of Dolphins" by Karen Hesse today. It is targeted for tweens but very thought-provoking nonetheless. I think it can count as a mermaid story!"Great one down then, Alana!
Sylvia wrote: "Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant sounds a little too scary for me, but the mermaid list on goodreads is full of choices...I'm going to interlibrary loan a couple!"thank you, great idea! I didn't think of it but I will check out the list.
I did think this book sounds fun and it sounds mermaid related
. I think this one will be my first one to try.
Has anyone else started any of the group reads? How far along are you? Any thoughts about the books you are reading?
Karen **Mess** wrote: "I don't want to say much on my views of this book. I don't want to discourage anyone else from reading it. But if the whole idea of a group read is for everyone to post their good and/or bad view..."
I see what you are saying, it is up to you if you want to give your opinion. I like to make my own decisions about books and sometimes my opinions are not with the majority. My thinking was the group read was to discuss the books however you feel comfortable. I know no one in this group would just "slam" a book for no reason so I don't mind opinions. You do what you feel comfortable with. Thanks for giving it a try either way! :)
Emily wrote: "OK, I have picked my mermaid books: Sea and Sky by Heather Crews and Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant. After I finish the books I've already started, it's mermaid time!"Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant, looks good. I hope you like them both. I have not made my decisions yet but will post when I pick.
