Thank you glad you're enjoying the discussion, and I hope Stephanie Garner develops as an author and actually listens to the reviews that constructively criticise her work

I felt this could have been great as well the premise of this mystical game on this mystical island could have been amazing, but the writing was mediocre and i agree the ending was like ohhh big cliffhanger please buy the sequel

I'm not sure i will be carrying on with the second book i really just don't care about the characters and what happens next

Unmemorable is definitely a word I'd use to describe this book I feel the author tried too hard to make the writing beautiful and ultimately failed

Finally finished this book I've given it 2 stars, very disappointed in this book, I didn't care at all for the characters and the world just didn't come to life for me

Reading slumps are the worst especially when you have so many books to read but for some reason you just physically can't get yourself to pick up a book and stick with it

Finally picking this up again and attempting to get it finished I've been in such a bad reading slump this month
Sara wrote: "I just finished it. I was so excited when I started reading this, and I am so let down now. I don't think I'll read the next one."You've got me nervous to read the end now, I'm not sure i will be reading the next one either if the first half is anything to go by

I originally thought it was a stand alone too
Alexandra wrote: "I think I feel the same as Ish with the writing style. I just finished the book, and will not give any spoilers, but I just found myself let down by the end. I think the writing style was just not ..."The characters feel very flat to me and I'm hoping she develops as a author. I think Caraval could have been amazing but so far i think its quite poorly written and I'm not lost in this magical world which i wish i was.

I'm glad your loving it, i think the whole concept of the mysterious isle and the game is great but I'm not entirely gripped by her writing style

I'd say go for the hardcover even if you don't love it, it will look beautiful on your shelf

I just need to find the motivation to actually pick it back up again :D

Good luck with the book everyone keep us updated with thoughts and opinions

I'm currently 200 pages into Caraval I started it right at the end of February, and so far I'm not too thrilled, I'm not loving it but I'm not hating it either I'm really hoping the ending is going to surprise me.

I finally managed to get this finished and I really enjoyed it, I loved most of the stories only maybe 2-3 i didn't really care for. My favourites were by Jay Kristoff, Cat Winters, Nova Res Suma and April Genevieve Tucholke.
This has made me want to read more anthologies!!

We are going with a fairly new release this month and thats Caraval by Stephanie Garber, this book has received a lot of hype over the past couple of weeks and a lot of mixed reviews. If you've already read it let us know what you think but keep it spoiler free; if you haven't read it yet do you plan to ?
Lets get a conversation going!!

Just finished Jay Kristoffs story and loved it, such a good twist

Wasn't expecting there to be a zombie short story for some reason, but I really liked it!
