20827 doomsday prophesy - yep, every generation has them. I think it's fake.
I'll bet the Mayans got some sort of a sickness and that's why they never finished their calendar.
I just read about this cult of people that killed themselves in 2000 because they thought the world was supposed to end that year.
But I do think we need to be aware that we have finite resources on this planet and should start taking as much care as possible. I for one don't want to live in a broken down sewer of a yucky, awful smelling Earth because people do not take care of the environment. That is the most doomsday prophesy I beleive in.
Regarding the earth's core - I think I read something on that. Do you remember what the program was called and was it on the discovery channel?
Wasn't the movie, "the day after" about the earth stopping it's magnetic field and going into an ice age or something. I found out that sometimes the magnetic North Pole actually switches and points to the South Pole due to the irons in the Earth's core. Anyone know any more about this?

I like the saying...WHERE THERE IS LIFE, THERE IS HOPE! I hope we humans will get smarter about how we live and start making some good choices. Already we are talking more about leaving a smaller carbon footprint by economizing and making choices that are environmentally "green" for a healthier Earth.

20827 I think a lot of factors are causing global warming. If the ocean temp goes up 1 degree it makes a change in the environment. Ocean ice melts causing higher water. Higher water erodes more of beach taking away natural barriers that prevent bad storms from reaching mainlands and causing more destruction & erosion. Ice melts also cause difficulty for wildlife - altering the food system and the normal hardwired food cycles - example: Polar Bear. Higher oceans also affect the beaches as animals such as turtles & horseshoe crabs lay their eggs in the sand. Higher oceans wash away their eggs, makes it difficult - population decrease causing food shortages with the wild life. Did you know there is a cycle of the moon, horseshoe crabs on east coast and a bird that comes from South America. WE ARE ALL INTERCONNECTED IN THE WEB OF LIFE. WHAT WE DO TO ONE AFFECTS ALL....Chief Dan George. [you can go to PBS.org, and search for horseshoe crab story and the Red Knot Bird. You can watch the full episode on it. And....there's something very Very interesting about the Horsehoe Crab and their blood. I'll let you check it out.:]

20827 Applauding for you! You marched and did something. I don't think people like to think about it too much because it so big to fix. They don't realize that if everyone did one little thing, what a big ripple it would make.
And look, the man across the road does not hose his driveway when it's raining. One step.

20827 A good way to conserve water is to not run water while brushing your teeth. Wait until you're done brushing. Imagine if everyone in the US did that how much water would be saved?!

Methane's in the permafrost too. Captured and frozen for thousands of years. Global warming is creating the ice to melt and the methane's escaping from the permafrost. Google: methane, permafrost. I wonder if we can capture it and make it work for us rather than going into the air to create more global warming.

your own immune system for some reason attacks the food cuz it thinks it's harmful and you're allergic. can be light or severe. check food labels carefully..sometimes peanuts are in the most unusual products. I love peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds...
