Hmm, would Captain Marvel, Volume 1: In Pursuit of Flight or any of the other Captain Marvel comics count even if the movie might not necessarily cover a specific arc from it?

I'm a little over 100 pages into And the Trees Crept In and I'm underwhelmed. The writing is average and the characters aren't interesting. I'm not one for horror novels (though I'd definitely not consider this a horror novel), but I've read some books that weren't meant to be scary and ended up being pretty creepy. I wish I was invested enough to be disappointed but I'm mostly just meh.

I just finished Newt's Emerald and while I liked it, I was surprised it wasn't better written. I've never read anything by Garth Nix before, but I always hear such praise for his Abhorsen series. Maybe my expectations were too high? It definitely felt rushed and that ending was too abrupt.

I just finished Big Little Lies and WOW I was not expecting to be so engrossed. I was a bit more than halfway through it a few hours ago and found myself unable to put it down. I'd expected some of the plot twists, but damn that last one! Sooo did not see it coming. I'm ready for the HBO series next month.
