March wrap-up (24 new)
Mar 26, 2019 07:10AM

208213 I read I'll Have What She's Having, a look inside the making of Nora Ephron's three major rom-coms: When Harry Met Sally..., Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail. If you like those, you'll like the behind-the scenes looks, what those took to get made, details about Meg and Tom and Billy and just fun little filmmaking notes.

I also read Whiskey in a Teacup by Reese Witherspoon, which was a primer on being a Southern woman, complete with basic recipes, playlists for parties and roadtrips and the basics to have any sort of gathering in the South.
208213 I finished Marriage Vacation (a tie-in book to the TV show Younger) and it made me hate Charles' ex-wife even more than the show did. Although it's definitely in the "Love is Lit!" category, for me it falls into the second category because she shouldn't have been forgiven for just up and leaving her family to go ~find herself in Thailand for practically a year.

I'm actually reading a non-fiction book on Nora Ephron's rom-coms right now and it talks a lot about the writing of this book and Carl Bernstein!
208213 Read The Total Package for my Feb book. A quick, easy and mindless romance. Both of the main characters were idiots but it was super QT.

I'm also reading a non-fiction: I'll Have What She's Having, which is a look at how Nora Ephron's three big rom-coms (When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail) saved the genre. So far it's really interesting and includes many funny references to who is NOT Deep Throat.
208213 I'll probably count "Marriage Vacation" (the companion novel to Younger) for February. Even though I hate the main character. (I'm also reading "The Boy is Back" by Meg Cabot for about the 17th time. I love it and if the universe could send me a Reed Stewart, I would be forever grateful.)

Whyyyyyy do they do this? I want all of the British films! Another of my fav Brit lit movies that they Americanized was "Asking for Trouble" (which the movie The Wedding Date was based on).

Lucie wrote: "I also recommend Twenties Girl if you enjoyed this, and the early Shopaholic books are funny stuff :)

I loved Twenties Girl! I read most of the Shopaholic books (when they added the sister was when they lost me) but her other standalone books - I've Got Your Number and Wedding Night - are also super QT.
208213 Finished Can You Keep a Secret? today after having the paperback on my shelf for literally YEARS and it was super cute and now I'm looking forward to the movie.
208213 I've Had "Can You Keep a Secret" by Sophie Kinsella on my tbr pile/shelf for like, 5 years, so finally gonna read it this month!
