203078 This past weekend was Independent Bookstore Day, where people are encouraged to pay a visit to an independent bookstore of their choices and by one or (especially in my case) more book(s) for their collection. One is always encouraged to visit independent bookstores in their area or those that cross their paths, but the last Saturday in April is a day that is set aside from doing so.

In this discussion board, I encourage you to share your experiences of where you went and what it was you got while you were there. I went to The Bookworm in Surf City (LBI), NJ and bought eight books that ranged from literary fiction to marine biology to research and journaling.

Here is a video of my experience of visiting The Bookworm and it was my seventh visit in the last year and a half: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Szx3...

I recently paid a visit to Booktrader in Hamilton, NJ and will be sharing that once I edit and upload it onto the Literary Gladiators channel.

203078 Hi everyone,

It is quite remarkable how we have reached 69 members in this group from all over! I wanted to use this post to bring about some thoughts and ask a few questions...

1.) Do you have any bookstore expeditions in store for this upcoming year?

2.) What kind of interesting ideas do you have for this group? Any suggestions? I would like to hear from each of you!

3.) Do you have any bookstore visits you wanted to share in the "haul" discussion or bookstores in the "bookstores" discussion window? It is remarkable to learn about the many bookstores that are still out there and deserve so much support!

I hope everyone has a great reading and book shopping year in 2017!

203078 This is definitely a great selection and it seems like nonfiction is an area that interests you! I got the 2016 Science and Nature Writing Essays that Amy Stewart edited, which I am looking forward to reading. I will be interested to hear what you think about the others, including those on the new nonfiction table.

203078 Welcome to everyone that has joined since I replied to your introductions. People have introduced me to bookstores from Florida, New Hampshire, and Washington state, and in Britt's case, reminded and encouraged me to visit a store in New Jersey. We are really filling in the map, which is exactly what I am hoping to accomplish with this group!

Mara, I like your intention to go on a road trip just to buy books. My department manager told me about the three-story Barnes & Noble in Baltimore and I had my mind set on going during one of my vacations and working it around that visit. I guess you can do that as a book lover!

I hope this group introduces you to so many new bookstores that may catch your attention as you plan your next vacation (which may very well be a bookish one)!

203078 Here is my newest bookstore book haul. I went back to Second Time Books in Mt. Laurel, NJ a few weeks ago and bought seven books, three nonfiction and four fiction. They have an amazing selection and here are some of the books I found, whether I was looking for them or came across them for the first time.

203078 Michelle, anything that champions bookstores is welcome in this community and your video was excellent! I really like how you interviewed her and gave us a tour of the store, so I would encourage everyone to check out your video!

203078 The store was filled with so much! Just when I was wondering where a certain section was, I came across it. Joan was nice and I mentioned you while I was there. I will be sure to share my video in this group and on my Goodreads profile page.

Sam, I really look forward to hearing about all of the bookstores you come across! Feel free to share them in the "Bookstores" discussion list, which I encourage all of the members to do, and I will continue to create a master list. A map of all of London's indie bookstores is definitely something worth owning. I have one for New Jersey, but not every store is on there.

Michelle, thank you so much for the kind words and I am really excited to hear about the bookstores in Southwest Florida! Perhaps I could plan out a vacation, knowing that there will be bookstores to shop at!
