Disaster strikes the village of Burymoss at a time when the yoke of oppression is at its tightest. The Nealers’ regular expeditions to the great trading markets are a life line for the wider community, even though this very trade preserves the cycle of repression, it must continue. Their friend, Leo Robinson, has been coping with his own losses and responsibilities for some time: the friends look to each other for support and find help from unexpected sources.
The Crow Queen and her cursed brood have plundered the land for years and are now picking at the bones of the people. Her tyrannical rule has meant skills once practised, revered and held in high regard have become misunderstood, feared and dangerous to follow.
While others fight for the basic rights of life and some begin to rebuild their lives, Jack, Sophie and Leo start to imagine and believe in a greater solution. The three friends find themselves on a path that becomes more dangerous with every ill-judged decision they make. Their ultimate dash for survival will change everything they’ve ever known, or understood.

Hi, I'm a new member and wife of first time author - I helped edit/proof-read the book. Neither of us are used to blogs/forums etc, so marketing of a first book is a bit tricky for us and outside our comfort zone.

The book is called "A Witch's Harvest" - here is a summary:
After their village Burymoss is destroyed by a fire started by the dreaded scarecrows and shrikes, and which also kills their grandmother, twins Jack and Sophie, with their friend Leo, set-off to trade their harvest in Turnside, a town controlled by Shrikes. They are joined by Leo’s father and the local gamekeeper his daughter, Joney and Anas, another local girl whose motives are unclear. Things go wrong and the group are separated and have to overcome many obstacles before finding their way back to Burymoss, including kidnapping and ultimately rescuing the Witch Queen. There are fights, disasters and triumphs along the way, and when they return to Burymoss, things have changed considerably.
