201765 LOL! Yes, I am definitely feeling Rodney-Dangerfieldish! :-)

201765 One of the indie bookstores where I live charges authors a fee for book signings. I had never heard of that before. I've done signings where I had to bring my own books - I can live with that - but for me to pay them for the privilege of selling in their store? Uh, no. There are a number of indie bookstores here in the metro area, but my experience has been that they are not welcoming to self-published authors.
IBPA Members? (14 new)

201765 I'm a member of IBPA. You can also get discounts at places like FedEx, Dell and Staples. And you can get $30 off PW Select at Publisher's Weekly, which is for promoting indie books (otherwise, it costs $149). I just signed up for that one. And you not only get a discount with NetGalley, but with your IBPA membership, you can also opt to use the service for only 3 months, instead of 6, for half the price of the 6 mos. I signed up for that one - it was $199 with my membership. I am still waiting to see if that was worth my money. I invited 40-50 reviewers to read my book on NetGalley, and so far only 1 has taken me up on it. I've had a bunch of people I don't know and didn't pitch to download it, but so far none have reviewed my book or left feedback. My title will be up until the end of April, so I'll wait and see what happens. But I'm considering not using them for my next book if this is all I get.
