My historical novels are about ordinary women who refuse to behave as victims. They overcome obstacles in extraordinary ways, but within the limits of the social norms and political structures of their eras. I'm noticing more and more authors who develop characters with these traits, and I hope that an entire genre will develop around this type of characterization.
