I have a poem to share: https://medium.com/from-the-poets-hea...
I will catch up on what I missed right now! Huge Hugs to All!

Dale, this is quite possible. I did find a spot on their website which probably contained the same information as the email.
I read this before and didn't know if it was true, but it will be as of 10/28. Read Ratio is an earnings factor. I read slow, but for people who are capable of reading a 6-minute article in 4-minutes will result in a slight reduction in the earnings from that member, no matter how many times they clap.
Of course, we won't know the true effects of these changes until December 8th when we are paid for November's articles.

She states these changes take effect on October 28th.
One thing she stated that I read before but couldn't explain is: "Claps without reading won’t be worth much at all."
A new change is: "We’ll be paid for a full month, on the 8th of the following month (rather than for 4 or 5 weeks.)"
I don't know how she found this out and if it's all true, but thought I should share what I saw. Good luck to us all. Hugs

Thank you for your kind words on my Haikus. I was going to stop writing them altogether, but maybe I won't. You are correct, on the detail sheet listing our articles, they don't make much because they are only one minute long.
I had no idea my poem had been curated! Thank you for letting me know. This is the third time in two years this has happened so I'm quite happy.
Having anxiety and depression, I must admit at first I felt ashamed for receiving claps for publishing Haikus. Then I remembered that article I read about the length of your piece and the read ratio being part of how you are paid, I felt less guilty.
I understand what you stated about the number of claps. I get the feeling our payments are based on some giant algorithm based on many factors. We may never know exactly how we are paid and we will certainly never have any control over it.

Deb, I adore your sense of humor! Hugs!

Your Haiku is brilliant!!
I would like to add something without causing a stir. We've read articles about how vague the payments are from Medium. I read that one component is in your stats, particularly the "Read ratio." Medium assigns a number of minutes to each article based on how long it should take to read. Supposedly, if someone only reads one minute of a ten minute article, payment is reduced. Based on that factor, I imagine Haikus don't earn much money anyway because they are deemed to be one minute long... or short, as I should say. Ms. Frank's article is hilarious.
I've written 10 Haikus over the past 3 months but have also been writing more overall and earned more followers. While my earnings have increased some, I am well aware my Haikus don't earn nearly as much as a 7 minute article.
Michelle Muses writes "Tanka poems in 10 lunes." I had to look up what a Tanka poem is and what lunes are. Though I'm a numbers person, I have yet to be able to create one.
Anyway, I hope I haven't irked anyone with my comments. Hugs

Hi Dale, I read your article and the related article. I know it's all meant in jest, but I just realized how my posts of haiku's... something new I've tried out recently, and think is fun getting the 5,7,5 syllables to work, is actually cheating the system.
I'm hanging my head in shame because I do agree. Thank you for waking me up to this error. Huge Hugs!!

Thank you for your kind compliment. It's rather bittersweet because at least the truth finally came out and I've been reunited with the rest of my family. About half live far away, which is sad for me.
Sorry to ramble here!! Hugs to All!!
