201765 Good luck!

201765 I couldn't see the difference between 1 and 4 until the comment by Valerie. But now I see the difference and I definitely like 1 better since it is brighter, and 4 is darker at the bottom half. I think the difference is so small that it should make no difference.

201765 I have used BookFunnel for over a year. It works. I have a free prequel to my KIll Crime series I give away on my website. I used to get a lot of people download it through Bookfunnel.

But, I am not sure about collecting people who want free. So I only participate in the promotions where I can offer one of my books for .99. This is at least someone who is willing to pay.

I am pleased with it.

201765 I like the lighter one better.

The red one is pretty dark. Also, the colors feel a lot like Christmas.
Or if not Christmas, them maybe a bloody forest.

Just my two cents. I personally think you might need a third choice. Do some a/b testing? You can on Fiverr get some very cheap a/b testing with comments.

201765 I got it. I'll read it and review it. Give me a couple of weeks.

Your Amazon video of the gathering was nice.

Have a great day,

201765 Carol,
Thank you for the moderation of the group, and your suggestions for authors. I do have a few comments that I hope help, and it is just from my experience. Your audience is different from mine crime/thrillers and I have a nonfiction business book on how to become a millionaire.

-Linkedin is a big waste of time for finding buyers in my opinion and experience with over 10,000 followers and having been on LinkedIn for a long time. But I would encourage everyone to make a LinkedIn Profile. I will always check a LinkedIn Profile to learn more about authors.

-Book promotion Facebook sights, I do think this is a waste of time. But I am going to study a little more on Facebook ads work.

-BookBub-try to get a Bookbub deal. It is expensive (about $800 and hard to get, you will not be chosen very often or maybe never, but you can reapply every 30 days. You will sell a few thousand books for one promo if it is discounted to 99 cents, or maybe 20,000 if it is free.

-I recommend Mark Dawson's course selfpublishingformula.com for about $850 for everything, a bunch of courses on video, updated all the time, and Facebook support as well as direct contact. Why? An author I know has been writing his series for 3 years, he will gross about $500,000 this year and net about $300,000-all from what he learned in the Mark Dawson course. So my recommendation is second hand, but I bought it and am watching it now. Feel free to reach out to me anytime-I'll tell you how it is going. www.mikeslavinauthor.com

-Write more books. Write as many good books as you can, edited tightly will help you get the best reviews possible.

I only commented on the things I thought I could say something different or significant. It is hard to sell enough books to make any impact on your life. Full disclosure, for One Million in the Bank I broke even the first year and make about $5,000 net a year doing zero promotion. I feel I could make a lot more money with that book with some promotion. Maybe after I finish Mark Dawson's course I'll promote it.

My focus now is on fiction, specifically writing a crime/thriller series-Kill Crime and Primed to Kill, Kill Crime 2 and working on Kill Crime 3. You might read Write, Publish, Repeat by Platt, Truant, and Wright. (great info for marketing and a game plan). I also have a free prequel to the series, Life-Changing Money, as recommended by the book I just told you about (WPR).

Okay I am loosing focus I think. I hope I have told everyone a few things that might help.

201765 I am just not sure how to make my books take off. I guess I know it takes about 4 novels or more in a series before you can really expect to make a return. With just two novels, Kill Crime and Primed to Kill, Kill Crime 2, and a short story prequel, Life-Changing Money, I need more books. I am working on Kill Crime 3 now.

I wish I had some wisdom to share with everyone, but that's it for now. Paying for promotion and maybe making your money back is not the solution. I do it too, but that is not the answer.

I wish everyone a wonderful year and good luck.
Mike
