Great information. I'm looking for reviews for my new novel. Thank you everyone. And I forgot to add this list of reviewers.
http://www.bookbloggersaustralia.com.au/
Most are based in Australia so you'll need to think postage or e-book. If I have to post a print book I use the book depository -www.thebookdepository.com -to order my book because with the royalty and no postage it costs less then me having to post from New Zealand to the UK or USA, and adds to my sales numbers!
Big hugs to everyone. Keep smiling. We've - Writer's Choice published 6 novels and everyone has been a winner or short listed in a reputable comp. Only wish it boosted our sales more.
This thread has been a great help but I'd like to go it alone. Does anyone know anything about doing it yourself? I can (I hope) fix up the use of a sound studio and I can read my own books (voice trained!) but having got the recording how do I format/make/turn it into an audio book to sell?
I am still trying to catch up with all the threads but hope this is the best place to cheer!Writer's Choice writers co-operative - that's me and my writer colleagues - are celebrating wildly today because this is our fourth year of being an Indie publishing group and one of our members has given us another competition success.
G.J. Berger has won the San Diego Historical Fiction Award for 2016-17 with his novel 'Four Nails'. We are bursting with pride because it is a great book and we wanted it to be successful for GJ.
This means that we have had competition successes every year of our existence. And none of us would have been published if we had left it to our agents and the traditional publishers. Go Indies is all I can say!
99cents/pence sale. 1 a.m. April 19th until 1 a.m. April 24th
Jacob's Justice, Tizzie and Bittersweet, my three historical novels, will be on sale at Amazon.co.uk/.com, Smashwords, Coverblurb.com,
and even Streetlib.com might have got the books up.
Just about to begin my Autumn (your Spring) 99cents/pence sales push for my three novels. Will send you all a breakdown of each day's places I used and the sales if it will be of any use to you all.
Most of them are paid ads, some aren't and some like Ask David help you do a very good twitter campaign within good Twitter streams of readers.
And Indiesunlimited.com has a good list of places which accept new releases. It's hard to get places if your book is a new release and so does not have many 5 star reviews!
Printed off. Many thanks. I really appreciate all your efforts. Will try on Monday, up to my eyes in Easter choir and services until then.
First conversion attempts! Failure. Total mess up!! I am going to leave the computer and go and reread all your instructions and see what I did wrong!
Ah, that's what my dear daughter does for me. She and her hubby are tech experts! But there still isn't a word processing programme then which we can use and save as epub? Sad!I know Terry Pratchett used a programme and made me laugh as he described how he had to train it. Looks like I will have to do that.
Hello Chris. Yes it would be nice to do that. I am a technophobe so am ignorant. However I believe that there are programme which can do this now. Forgive my basic questions but can I do this in Word, Word Perfect ? What programme do I use to do this?
AND
before I throw my computer through the window is there a good dictation programme so that I can save my poor sore arthritic fingers and dictate my words?
I can see I am going to have fun trying all these systems. Thank you so much for your suggestion, Raúl.
I haven't had time to try yet, but have docx and the newest version of Calibre so think that I will save my ebook file, which is in doc ready for kindle to docx.Fingers crossed and a virtual bottle of champagne for you, Sandy
Hello Anna, that's hard! Every time I write another book I hope it's better than the previous ones, but I do have a soft spot for Jacob, but then I do for Tizzie and also for Bryce! It's no good. I can't decide. I put heart and soul into each novel and am desolate when I have to say goodbye to the characters. If you don't have a British or Commonwealth background then Jacob's Justice and Bittersweet might be easier to read as Tizzie is a Yorkshire lass and speaks and thinks in dialect.
I hope this is the right place. I'm still feeling my way around the board. From 19th of April until 1.a.m. on the 24th of April my ebooks will be on sale at Smashwords and Amazon for 99 cents.
Yes I did click on the book and highlight it. Ah me! What a pickle. I will try again tomorrow when I am less frustrated and apt to throw the computer out of the window.
Oh the frustrations!I think I must have a new version of Calibre, Aislinn as there are no drop down menus as you describe them. I can press Add Books and got one book file uploaded. Press brown button Convert and get a message. 'Could not convert the book because no support format was found.'
Tried using the left hand menu but it is only about the three books on Calibre so pressing format there gives me 2 options and if I press e-pub I get one book Calibre downloaded, if I press Doc I get my book's file. But always the messaget that my file cannot be converted .
