201703 Question: What motivates my character?

In the fantasy novel, Bloodlines, written by Richelle Mead, the main character Sydney is motivated by her love for what she does and her tattoo. The tattoo she has is forces her to be loyal to the Alchemists and not make any mistakes. She has made a mistake in the past causing her tattoo to not be inked therefore not letting her have magic. Now, her father and the rest if the Alchemists are deciding to re-ink her or put in her sister. Sydney knows that her sister isn’t ready to get inked and owned by them. She says, “The Alchemist cause might be a good one, but once you’re in it, they own you.” Being owned by Alchemist basically means that they will control your every action, judge your every move and Sydney is motivated to do that because her tattoo is the thing that makes her have magic and be a Alchemist. She is basically forced to be loyal and everything, but her tattoo is the one thing that makes everything like that. Therefore, my character Sydney is motivated by the tattoo on her face.

201703 In the dystopian fiction novel, The Crown, by Kiera Cass, the character Eadlyn is juggling so many things at her age and isn’t suppose to be. Her mom is sick causing her dad to want to take care of her which means she has to take her dad’s spot and be a leader. Her brother just got married after a few days and hasn’t been calling her or anything like that. First day on the job of being the replacement of the king, the meeting was about war which she knew her dad didn’t like. One of the men were giving her a tough time causing her to fire him. She showed them who was leader and really said it to them. She said, “‘I have two younger brothers to keep calm in the wake of all this, a country to run, and six boys downstairs waiting for me to offer one of them my hand.’ Coddly swallowed, and I felt only the tiniest bit of guilt for the satisfaction it brought me.” Then she said, “Good. You’re all dismissed. And I suggest you all remember who’s in charge here before we meet again.” She was being very commanding and as a young adult she is doing so many things that others aren’t.

201703 Question: What is one important choice or action you character made?

In P.C and Kristin Cast's Vampire Protagonist novel, "Revealed," the main character Zoey had already made so many hard decisions as in who to trust in her life and what she is going to do because her every single step in life will affect those around her. She is the first fledgling High Priestess and she has a lot of boy problems in her life. Before she had to chose to let go of Heath, her human consort, her love in order to get back to reality. He meant so much to her and she knew him for a very very long time. She says to Stark, “‘Nine,’ I said. It made me feel miserable and helpless, but my gaze wouldn’t stay on Stark’s face.” Nine, the age Zoey met the love of her life, now she is in high school with the love of her life dead. Her choice of leaving him in the Otherworld made her so depressed, but she had Stark, her guardian be there for her and kind of take his place even though the thought of Heath still lingers in her heart. This boy problem stresses her out so much and half the time she tries to force it out of her mind.
