19995 We are almost half done with August! Woo! Here is our first mini discussion: post your favorite excerpt from Part 1 and explain why it speaks to you and why you think it is significant.
19995 It's August! We can start reading now! Yay! Ill post some short questions next Wednesday for part 1 for everyone to start discussing. Happy reading!
19995 Good Afternoon Ladies!
We have just over a week before August starts(crazy right?) and I wanted to post a rough schedule of the next 2 months of reading and discussion. The novel is broken up into 4 parts and the August September time span is about 9 weeks.
Week 1 and 2 will be focused on reading Part 1- Summer
Week 3 and 4 will be dedicated to Part 2 - Autumn
Week 5 and 6 will be dedicated to Part 3 - Winter
Week 7 and 8 will be dedicated to Part 4 - Spring
Throughout and at the end of each part, I encourage all of you to ask questions that you want clarified or post your own topics of discussion based on something you thought of while reading.
Week 9 will be a full week of just final discussion and continuing those mini discussions. Week 9 is also when we will decide on the reading for October/November.
Like I said, there is roughly 1 week left of July so grab a copy so we can all get started together. Can't wait to hear from you all!
D-Xi!
19995 Hello again sisters! Next month is August which means that we will be starting the Book club up again with a new book. The selection for August/September is Maya's Notebook by Isabel Allende. You still have the rest of the month to find yourself a copy before we start reading. Can't wait to get started! :)

Yea I've been checking in on it every once and a while and I might cut the poll after tomorrow night unless something new gets added today and there's a big reaction.

19995 As the new Mod for this group I had an idea about possibly doing a Seasonal Book Swap. It was previoulsy mentioned before but never took off anywhere.

The premise however is that the book you're getting is a secret and you have to choose based on 3 keywords or phrases the owner lists. Then once everyone has claimed a book you swap them amongst yourselves and then everyone has a new book to add to their collections.
What does everyone think?

If you haven't you should add your suggestions onto the facebook poll.

19995 As discussed on the Facebook group, there seems to be a large interest in bringing back this group.
As far as the selection I am not sure what we wanted to start on. my suggestion is The Good Earth by Pearl s. Buck.
