"Nice." Anna smiled as she realized that this girl was not going to be an easy one to talk to. She threw her last knife besides the one beside her feet. "Exactly how long have you been throwing?" Maybe she could get through to her by asking the general questions for anyone in The Games.

Grabbing her knife Anna walked back to her line and watched the tribute throw backwards. She tossed a couple dfferent knives in the air and found the one she was waiting for. She too could throw backwards. But she needed this knife. She turned and gripped the knife. As it flew from her hand she turned and watched it hit the dummy in the heart. She had redeemed herself from the missed throw. She gripped the next knife and gave it a light toss trying to be funny but still hit the target in the leg. She laughed and turned to face the tribute.
"Can you at least tell me what district you're from?" She asked.

Anna took a deep breath, calming her nerves. Her next knife was one to be thrown lightly and is one that she can't throw well. Closing her eyes she thought about her father. It was like she could feel her father's hand guiding her fingers to the right places. She opened her eyes and took aim. She cringed before it even hit the ground. She could hear the whispering voice.
"Aim high and add an astounding arch on it. You'll learn to throw them sooner or later." Whether she said it out loud along wth her father she had no idea. She sighed and walked up to retrieve it to try again.

Taken back by her sudden outburst Anna put the knives back and grabbed a different variety of throwing knives to test out. "If you spread your fingers out a little more across the handle you might get better height." Anna whispered talking to herself and the other tribute thinking about her father's advice as she started to throw her first one.

'Okay.' Anna thought. She retrieved her knives and walked back to her line. She thought about her throws and the knives she had. Taking aim she threw the first one in hopes of an eye shot. She kept throwing and decorated the dummy's face and upper chest with knives. She watched the other tribute and asked. "Do you want some help or throwing tips?"

Anna stepped into the training room just in time to see someone throw a knife directly into a dummy's chest. A small smile spread across her lips. She picked up a few knives and found her own target to throw at. Just to warm up she tossed them at random places on the dummy. She hadn't thrown in over a month because her father told her to rest her arm. She walked up to retrieve her knives and made an attempt to talk to the other tribute.
"Hi. I'm Anna, District 2."

History :

Anna and her brother were born on a typical District 2 June day. It was a mild sixty some degrees with the rain sprinkling down. They were quiet babies, much quieter than their 4 year old sister Kathleena was. At first they cried all the time but as time passed they done different sounds for different things. Crying meant hungry, laughing meant they needed changed, etc. By the time they had turned one they were walking and babbling. They each had three teeth and a fourth one due at any time. At two they had all their teeth and were almost potty trained. Three, four and five went right along with the rest of normal toddlers' lives. As they grew older they grew apart but were still close. They had the unspoken twin bond that kept them together. At six and a half another baby was born into the family. She took attention away from the twins. Anna didn't like it at all, Jeramiah on the other hand loved his baby sister. He spent as much time with her he could while spending time with his twin as well. She grew more and more spiteful as time passed. This made Jeramiah grow somewhat depressed. Finally after baby Ava's first birthday he couldn't take it any longer. Weapons could be found all around the house. He didn't want to do it but he couldn't take it any longer. They found him dead in the kitchen with a stab wound to his chest. This made Anna feel sad and lonely so she turned into her brother. Instead of being mean to Ava she was nice. As the two grew older their bond grew stronger. It was three years after her twin's death that she realized that she had Avie all wrong. She took the attention away from her because she needed the attention more than Anna herself. It wasn't but two weeks later that she asked her father to help her train. She would avenge her brother's death in The Games. When he asked what she wanted to train with her answer shocked him. He didn't know if he could help her. He hadn't picked up a knife since his son stabbed himself. Training start slowly, Thomas knew that it would be hard to pick the first knife up so he instead started with the handling techniques of different knives. Anna would pick the knife up with a loose fist and Thomas would guide her fingers to the correct places. As she learned how to handle them she started to toss them in the air and learn to grab them in the right places. This took a couple months. And after that came the part that Thomas was dreading. The worry became more and more evident with each passing day. So Anna finally said something about it to him.
"Papa, are you scared of knives after what happened to Bubba?" She had been conversing with him for quite some time working up to this question. His answer wasn't too shocking to her but what he said after was.
"Well princess." He paused to think about his wording. "Yeah, I am a bit frightened to pick one up. But that's why we started where we did. For you and for me. If you learn how to handle them before throwing them that means I can guide your arm through a few throws before picking one up myself."
He said it with a smile that no one had seen from him in over three years. This brought a smile and tears to Anna. At this time she was starting to regret asking him to help her. But when he said that she knew that she had made the right decision. That was the day she finally got to throw her first knife. They threw knives for an hour that day. Most of the throws were just getting used to throwing them, but the last few were more of target competitions between the two of them. This is how the two spent their training sessions until she turned twelve. After that training was more like training than fun. Yes her father worked her hard. But she didn't care, she kept up with him. If he threw an off target throw she would throw just a little bit worse than him. If he hit the target dummy in the eye she would hit the other eye. If he hit the dummy in the heart her knife would land just millimeters away. It was on her fourteenth birthday that she asked him if he thought she was good enough for The Games. He answer was a hesitant yes because for their District she was a bit younger than most volunteers, but she had trained almost as long as most. She hugged him and then told him of her plan. The one that she thought of four years earlier. The one where she was going to avenge her brother's death for the family. This lead to a family meeting where Anna trained. Everyone agreed with Thomas with the fact that she was as skilled as most only younger. They didn't really approve of why she done it until she told them her secret. That she felt responsible for his death. She had pushed him away and caused him to kill himself. That's when they agreed that she needed to go to the Arena because she wouldn't be able to live with herself if she didn't.

Personality

Anna is sweet like her brother was because she felt like she took him away from the family and felt that she owed the family a sweeter daughter. She is also a very charming young lady. She can get almost anything she wants whether it be for herself or not. On the rare occasion that she can't get whatever it is she wants you do get to see the old Anna from before Jeramiah's death. The spiteful and temperamental Anna, the one that everyone disliked. Once she starts acting like her old self it's best to leave her alone and wait for her to calm down before attempting to do anything around her. She's also very confident in herself and her throwing skills, this itself can make her seem cocky at times. But she's very self conscious and tries to keep this under control most times.
